not sure whether to post this here or in reviews but has anyone tried the slingshot joints? they look good but i won't be able to try them before buying so has anyone else ridden with them? what are your thoughts
A few years ago I broke my fibular in a scenario similar to what Saffer is describing. Normal foot straps and one foot slipped out on landing.
I demo'd these bindings last week (and have used full boots before - although not my thing), they were comfortable, easy enough to get in to and quite secure. I don't think I would have broken my fibular, in my case, if I was wearing these.
Saffer does have a point though, if you lose a foot on release or mid-air, it may be difficult to get the other foot out.
I'm happy enough to stick with straps however.
They look ridiculous in the photo's, but i'll with hold judgement until i've seen them in the flesh and had a chance to ride them.
I just demo'd the LF Cradle's and absolutely loved them so i'll be keen to check these out when they land in stores.
Edit: At least the base plate on these Slingy Joints looks solid, unlike the last companies attempt at backing a 'backless binding'.
Seems like all the downsides of boots (not easy in/out, heavier than straps, more expensive than straps) without any of the upsides of riding boots (ankle support, secure).
Thangs that are half assed, are half assed. but like Koma, i've not ridden them.
