hey guys,

i see many pro's attaching the leash to the back of the harness, but i hear a lot about the risk of getting dragged backwards and not being able to release.
so where do you leash and why?

seem's like the D rings on the side of the harnesses don't really hold the power of a lot of unhooked crashing in boots..

cheers!

Please take particular notice of what happened to Karolina.....

It's a no brainer.........attach it to the front of your harness!

That video explains the risks very well but doesn't talk about short leashes which are much more suitable for anyone who doesn't unhook, which is the majority of kiters.

Connecting a long leash in front of you is very annoying, it just dangles on your legs and is a potential risk to wrap around your bar ends. I guess there is no magical solution for those who unhook, but then again those who unhook are almost always connected in suicide mode...which is a huge risk on it's own!

So yeah, get a short leash if you don't unhook and attach it to the front of your harness, or your hook (see post in General section). I have ripped small D-hooks from harnesses, sometimes they aren't strong enough to support a leash attachment, but a spreader bar or the hook is the best place for a short leash to be attached.

Magical solution is a release on the harness, my LF comp had one each side which released the handle pass rope. Pity they weren't that comfortable or I'd still be riding one. That and they made the hook swivel.

Other harness brands should look at a release as the leash is such a weak point!

Weren't long leashes there just for the "spinning" tricks? And that was the only thing they were so long + 250% flaggin on old systems?
I personally don't even plan to unhook and see no point in attaching it on my back while its flapping on my leg and sometimes gets around the bar when selflaunching from the beach (kite floating in the water).
Thx for the ideas, ill hook it up on that inox dick or whatever is it called. And shorten curent1.
Btw i did see cabrinha core and naish short leashes.

thank you!

i ride unhooked so i need a strong attachment. the D rings on the side don't seem to hold up - how do you attach on the side/front? i ride a prolimit predator..

Some of the prolimit harnesses also have the rear leash release. E.g. Kitewaist pro definitely has it. I think the Manera Exo harnesses also has a rear attachment release.
