First glance, I thought it was a Torch. I'm curious how it performs compared to the previous design.

Yeah it looks like they have changed the aspect ratio but im not 100% sure what that means or how it will perform due to that change

Just like every brand this year cauncy.

Big changes for the Park this year with the higher aspect ratio. Still has a familiar Park feel but power generation a bit different. Upwind a bit better and jumps with more float. The aim was to take it to the next level for a bridled freestyle kite now that the Pivot has filled the wave/freeride segment.

Higher aspect ratio....better upwind performance....jumps with more float

Hmmm, are u sure it's not an Edge??

Wait 6 months and they will be heaps cheaper. It will be a litmus test this year for retailers to sell the same product for 20% more due to the dollar. Prices did not drop too much when the AUD was good against the greenback. If the punters don't buy lots of 2016 kit then it's going to be a fire sale in 6 months time.

Because the cost of production was increasing at the same time. Our stronger dollar was just covering the price increase.
Kite prices are subject to inflation just like any thing else we buy in the world.
My first LEI kite in 2001 was $2200, if we factor in inflation the same kite in 2014 would cost $3127 so if anything kites have gotten cheaper and MUCH better.

Using that theory, I'm struggling to fathom why the Video Cassette Recorder (VCR) my Dad bought in 1987 at around $1,000 would cost $2,285 today.

Probably because you don't quite understand economies of scale and the effect of disruptive technologies (of which we are yet to really see with kites - of any significance anyhow, as yet).

The Park took a dedicated slot in in the range with the intro of the Pivot last year, the all round kite that was fun dissapeared and took on a more C kite feel. The Pivot took up the all round wave kite position.

Last years park was awesome so im really keen to get the new ones!

So how come the cost in the States was exactly the same as previous years. Also noticed that in the states the Torch is now $70 cheaper for the 2016 model.

Be carefull buying Naish kite....i ve got the same issue on two Naish 9m kites (ok it was not a Park but a Torch).

The trailing edge is fluttering heavily between two struts on the same parts on both kite ! (maybe because of the "trailing edge reinforcement" ) .
This problem occur all the time and not only in kiteloop like Naish claim !

Naish do not recognize the problem and i have to use a kite with defect !

Videos will follow if needed !

Because it is their dollar that has gained in strength
Fact is that Naish kites are at least $100 cheaper in Aus than in the USA this year and 2015 models were $2-300 cheaper

many countries in the world are in the midst of a currency war to increase their exporting goods value. Hence the dollar (the international reserve currency) is getting stronger. Our currency will only go south from here if history repeats.

I would suggest that unless a massive AUD$ recovery/increase to the US$ happens, you can nearly guarantee a price increase mid season from all brands. Even though everyone is seeing price rises, I can assure you that all the brands are wearing a lot of the increase due to currency, but this can only be done for so long. For the launch of the 2015 season the US exchange was 0.92, it is now at 0.70. This is a huge increase. So unless you know something we don't, if your looking at purchasing a kite in 2016, i'd do it now ;)

Ride safe,

JB

Why is NAISH still using the "HD" acronym? I assume it stands for High Depower?

Reminds me of the old Cab Omega HD and the old NAISH SLE HD. Both had very little depower if any!

super keen to have a try of the new version. I am still on the '14 model and Naish's claim for more hang time on the park seems to good to be true !

Why HD?

Because the new 2016 NAISH PARK HD is that much better! It's like kiting in High Definition compared to what you are used to.

Take 3 already amazing Naish Kites, blend the speed and steering accuracy of the Torch, Aspect ratio and ease of use of the PIVOT and feed these to the already hugely popular 2015 Park, and you get the 2016 PARK HD.

Maybe if you learnt to read the so called marketing hype/ BS as you call it you would understand these things....

The Park is a spin off of the Torch which is one of the best C kites out there.
Why is it a compact "C" or swept "C"? Simple, the basic design for the layman is a Torch with the wingtips cut off and more sweep in the leading edge. Starting to add up?

These pretty little pictures are there to make it look interesting yes. But ALL these things have lots of design put into them so i think it unfair to have a crack and call them out on marketing hype. There are so many improvements on the kites now that don't really show or are understood by everyone until they are explained. Last time i looked most companies use nice little pics to show off their tech features.

I fly the Parks since last year, before that they were a fun kite but a bit of an all rounder and not to my liking. Last years kites were really very good at what they marketed them towards, this year im really excited about the changes.
Keep an open mind and don't be a hater!
