Let me know your thoughts on the 390GAP.
I tried it in NZ, and finally got out onmy own onetoday with 660. If you lay it on top of a 370 it's only about 5mm wider at each wingtip...
Not much wind, not much swell. I had a Naish bar on my Drifter because Cabrinha can't build a proper bar to save themselves, so it was a bit tentative.
But confirms my initial impressions compared to the 370 -- little bit looser in the roll when riding in a straight line, easier to tip into a carve. In fact it wants to be carving where it's probably a little more stable ... and less inclined to poke the tips out, or make sucking noises, mid gybe. A bit smoother; I wondered if the up-turned tips of the 370 was poking into some turbulence from the front wing.
I wonder if it's a more lifty profile too cos it seems to glide a tad further when you catch a swell and need less rear foot to drive around...
Certainly for "carving" I think the 660 and 390 are a great match for focusing on that "style". If speed in a straight line is your thing, go for non-gull wings and "regular" stab.
Now I was thinking about that 460 today too...I bet I'd poke it out a lot more though.
I tried my old 400 again today and immediately hated it, it doesn't like to carve as much as my 390 and indeed the 400 pokes it's tips out.
I think the 400 is a little looser ? But the 390 has more stability in turns, I can push it hard.
The 400 also has more lift, requiring more front foot pressure over the 390.
Enjoyed using custom flat stabs on the wing with the 1000 front wont, have not tried with a kite (680) however, not sure it's a good match.

You can never go home again :D I remember the 820/4xx as being very stable and easy to load up hard in carves, very pleasurable. Probably hate it now too I didn't think I'd like the smaller stabs but I do now...
I think the 390 sort of cups the water as you carve around, adding to stability.
A bit of talk on the FB group about shimming ... I'd like to get my fingers on the 3D printed +/-1 shims, just for the Why Not? factor. Nobody around with a printer though, and AFAIK no such service as the online options elsewhere...
The 460? Those are very popular with the pumping/wing crowd. Let us know how it goes with the kite, curious about that too.
Hi,
I am going to get an axis kit and was wondering what bit size to use with an electric screwdriver. I guess M6 it's a T30 bits, what about M8? Is it a T40?

Yes -- T30 for stab, T40 for the others.

Just cut some piece of rubber (I used an Ikea chopping board) and experiment. I've added some shims at the front hole and I immediately noticed I need less front foot pressure on the 390 which is nice (less lift and more speed but it's minimal). The S series fuselages has a huge amount of incidence something like 5deg to make it beginner friendly.

But ... I like OEM :D
I have the 3D printing file ... just no access to a printer.
I need to get looser and carve harder with the kite foil 680/390. Currently on short fuse. Thinking next step is ultra-short ?
I was waiting on the Black series but it looks more wing/speed/glide dedicated and I just want to carve hard
Thinking about possibly chopping down the 400 stab for more loose.

Try it. I found a noticeable difference between short and ultra-short, might be enough.
If it's not, I do believe there's a crazy short available :D
I tried the ultra short yesterday coupled with the 680/390 on UFO 5m. It was a fun session
It was a little looser but not as loose as I expected.
I think it's the tail that feels too locked in. So that's the next step, chop chop something or 370 maybe. Not a fan of upturned tips though.
Crazy short fuse will be way too twitchy for kite

Crikey! Why not just try stab-less?
Well.... Today I decided to try the black series HPS880 which I use for wing, with the kite and.... Holy crap this thing is a glide machine
Time to say bye bye to the S series and get an ultra short in black instead for kite
Will soon be trying a 340 stab. Hopefully nice and loose

Please try the BSC 890 (I think?) If you have any chance to get your hands on one and compare the two for kite. I'm looking at what would follow the trusty 820 and give a lot of light wind lift to a heavy guy but maybe slightly more top speed.

I do not have a BSC and I wouldn't bother with them, they are thicker than HPS....
Adrian@Axis said he's not heard of any kiters using the BSC so far but knows people using the HPS700 for kite.
I did not like the HPS980 when I kited with it so the smaller HPS sizes are the way to go if you want speed & glide first and foremost I think.
