If it is a solid machined piece then why does it have plastic caps on both ends?

Cos it's actually extruded, not solid and machined.
No Ye guys are rite it is hallow.anyway I've made one from aluminium and mine is also hollow with a 3mm wall and I've learned on it,gave it so much abuse and been riding almost 2 months now and can tell Ye,it ain't bending anywhere
Speedy, where did u get your ally bar from I'm thinking of extending mine.
is it standard alloy or " aircraft grade" ?
All the posts from people who have never foiled are funny.
I'd like to clear up a few things for those thinking about purchasing a cheaper foil, from any brand.
I've only owned the LF FF, and mate already has the double agent which looks just as good.
I've had my LF FF for almost a year, (since the day they arrived at shop). Has increased my kiteable days to anything above 11knots.
I still prefer strong winds and freestyle.
But it's nice to be able to go for a kite after work on those 12knot days and still do backrolls etc.
I'm over 100kg, no signs of bending... The strut has two circular sections that run the length and also a few more stringers. (It's really strong).
After a year, I'm ready to go faster.
So I'm now upgrading to faster foils.
But geeez the foil fish was good for learning, robust and most importantly fun.
I've also tried foil fish with faster front wing, it made it too fast for learning.
You can go out and buy a really fast foil straight away but it's actually prob going to make learning harder, or at least your crashes spectacular.
Are u talking about the fuselage?the bottom piece that the wings bolts on too?im a boilermaker and just made it all from aluminium lying around d workshop.it just normal allu as I wanted it quick and couldn't mate for marine grade plus I didn't think it would work as good

Speedy I'm a contract welder and am impressed by your work, Cab should get you making theirs. Same style but you would improve their quality.
At least you can repair yours yourself when the ally cracks at those welds.
Ok so just to confirm.liquid force fuselage is in fact a solid machined piece, why?because after taking one apart today it is clear to see it is not hollow.no1.the mounting bolts are counter sunk that run rite through the other side to the mast.2. The 5 hole are drilled and tapped where the wings bolt on.as for the plastic capped ends well my guess is that when u crash it hard of reef or whatever u can take them off and get replacement ones instead of having to replace the whole fuselage = pritty clever idea
good luck bending the fuselage on the LF!!!
you are more likely to ruin the mast, that is the weakest part of all the components.
there is nothing wrong with any of the alloy foils, good value and get you on the water when a TT wont.
In my personal experience it's easier and cheaper to start on a entry level foil. (Like the "double agent" or the "foil fish").
Once you have it mastered you can sell to a mate and upgrade to something more expensive.
Not in my investigations -- the LF Fish is actually more expensive than a number of brands...
^^^^^^^^righto^^^^^^^^^
Cheaper foils like the LF FF And double agent are also cheaper if you have to repair any damage.
I've had friends who learnt on expensive carbon foils, and repairs are extremely costly. They have commented to me that they wish they started on something cheaper.
I can't help but feel like your "investigations" are no match for actual experience of myself and other Melbourne based crew.
Maybe you could contribute by adding said information instead of just making a statement with little logic.
What's foils have you tried?
What's foils have you bought?
Can you even foil?
I know cheaper foils out there, infact a good mate built several himself for the cost of alloy and his time.
COST vs PERFORMANCE when it comes to foils, need to find your own balance point.
No need to go all chest-beating on me. I'm simply comparing the prices that I've looked into, and have posted that in the "other" thread -- the LF Fun iirc is more expensive than TKF, Zeeko, and a couple of other Al foils. For a set up that most people moan about how slow and draggy it is, *I* don't think it's good value, and the price makes it not cheap. Seems logical to me...
So you haven't tried any foils?
I'd like to try the other foils you mentioned, but Unlikely to get a chance unless maybe at event or something.

I did try LF, Zeeko and Alpine. LF is miles away from these 2 despite being sold at a similar price.
LF works...but it is a poor design and is now totally obsolete. From what I can see Cab double agent follows the same path. Outdated designs for both of them.
Just look at the shape of the fuselage, position of the wings (also their shape). Their laminated wings are fragile too (many of them split and I think your front wing did too)
Again, not saying they don't work but for the same price tag you can get something that you can grow with.
I hit a square edge bunker in Hawaii, it's destroys every foil that hits it. $50 and some beers and it was fixed overnight.
I'm looking forward to trying next years Liquid force offerings.
The profiles and wing shapes look faster, the boards lighter.
All steps in the right direction.
The alpine and zeeko foils would also be awesome to try and compare.
It will be interesting to see how available new foils actually are, hopefully before Christmas.
Only way to make a strong fuselage out of aluminium is to CNC a solid bloc. More expensive, heavier but at least you can work the profile instead of just delivering a straight bar....
Top lol.
What is forging, heat treatment, ageing, even the pillars in your fancy BMW are cast aluminium, hopefully they got it right

Yes, very VERY limited selection of foils I could possibly have the opportunity to try: North, Levitaz, Lift, and the Slingshot Alien Air/Lift that I popped my cherry on. All out of my price range. When/if I buy, it'll be sight unseen and so:
First, I checked the prices...
Then, I checked the reviews.
And so I have come to the conclusion that the LF Fish is not as cheap as it appears (because the price on web stores is for the foil only, the board is another $500 or so) and most people outgrow its performance. Sounds like the same goes for the DA but the board looks better on its own.
It's a shame, cos I have zero desire to race and would be happy putting around slowly trying tricks on a solid board and foil, but I think neither LF nor Cab are good value.
Just don't buy the board and bolt it to an eski lid. If you are good it won't be toughing the water anyways

Then the price vs. performance makes it expensive

The Zeeko Alloy fuslage is CNC machined from billet Alloy. if they can why not all the others
I've ridden my double agent over the weekend
rider 82kg
wind 15 gusting 20
kite 9m cabrinha Fx 2016
experience 2 years kiting, no foil experience
the set up of the board is fairly straight forward everything went together with ease
once on the water after watching a tone of videos on how to foil i thought i would have in in the bad
how wrong was i
the first hours was me hobby horsing on and off the foil with some spectacular crashes
but the board was forgiving and soon after i was riding well (could stay on the foil both tacks and run down wind a little bit)
its a super fun board and im sure it will test me in the coming months

Nice one. I notice you configured the foot straps 3 in a Y. Now that you have worked it out, do you reckon the Y config helped much or would it be fine just using 2 inline. (just waiting for a opportunity to try mine out.)

yer at this stage i will remove the rear strap as i didn't use it once in the 2 hours i was out
but will keep the front 2 in place just because it kept my footing consistent which feel helped but i wont know until i get it out again and only use one
