Does anyone have experience on both of these kites? Can someone compare the two?
They shape of the two seems very similar.
Would be grateful for any feedback.
If you want to jump huge and loop - megaloop, the Screamer is your kite...
Also has quite a big wind range and gets going early.
My friend just bought a new one, he's new to jumping, and instantly going as high as the rest - his landings will improve ha ha :)
As far as kites looking similar - means nothing these days...
Both have a very wide wind range and go early.
Both will go big.
Very, very different feel.
Screamer is 'highly tuned', almost reminds me of kites from yesteryear.
Evo is much smoother, refined and controlled in its power delivery, but maybe not as exciting until you get into its top third of its range, where most kites start to get fun anyway.
Dimitri is my all time fav rider (not relevant but hey thought I'd chuck that in).
Try Both my man.
Hey guys!
Yeah Dimitri is the man. I want to be able to ride an quarter of the way Dimitri does one day.
Having said that, I have tried the Screamer. I LOVE the Screamer, amazing kite. It just sort of scares the **** out of me when it gets gusty. Its really not stable in gusty winds. I kite a lot on stormy conditions and it just want not working out. I love the kite until it gets gusty. If Dimitri can fix that i will buy every screamer 5-14.
Thats why I am looking for a kite that is very similar to the Screamer, but one that will eat up the gust and fly stable while boosting big. Dimitri is one of the best in the world, im sure he has no issue with the gusts. Me, im getting there but not at his level. So need something a little more tame in those conditions, but will still loop and boost like a screamer.
Funny that, different finding styles...
I like to time my jumps going hard and megalooping in those big gusts
Why not go for an allrounder like the Catalyst, if big gust stability is more important than a kite that gives you instant power - powers not everything...
If your megalooping the screamer in those gusts you must be a damn good kiter.
Ive seen guys who are kiteloop kings give back the screamer because of the stability issues.
I actually know a lot of riders who love the Screamer until it gets gusty. Scary.
Catalyst is way too soft.
Yeh if stability in gusty conditions is important then the evo should be on your radar. Probably why I ride the rebels to be honest haven't found a kite as stable as that when gusty and highly Powered. Found the same with last years Evo which seems to suite more what ya looking for. Hearing good things about that new enduro as well, but haven't ridden it so wouldn't really know.

Lol I go alright...
Always ruffling a few feathers of team riders when out.
Most times at 75kg, I'll ride 2 sizes bigger when it gets scary - at the end of the day you'll always have more fun with control, so buy something that suits your skill level. Demo if you can...
Do you think evo/reb are as stable as a switchblade? I kite in a bat**** gusty area where it's not uncommon to have double the average wind speed. I don't rate them as a freeride kite as they are a little boring for me (I'm on v4Nitro's, 115kgs). The few locals who have them get them up sometimes when I'm out, I've always noticed the stability. I pay very close attention when it's crazy bad and have thought I'd go a 6 as my storm kite. I'm thinking fat leading edge 5 strut is the go.
You think reb/evo would be a good storm kite? My 8 nitro gets to be a handful over 40 in these conditions.

For your weight, I'd suggest Rebel over the Evo. It has more obvious low end grunt and really short depower throw. With both, the gusts tend to push them a little forwards in the window which makes them feel nice and smooth. We tend not to get much more than 10 knots or so in gust difference. 20knots gusting 40 is pretty hairy conditions in my book. The Rebel is a bow kite so handles the gusts well (probably like a crossbow). I find it more difficult to get good pop and the drift is worse/different compared to the Evo but then when its really blowing, the water here tends to be too messy to ride normally so I tend to just boost and carve the chop face. The Rebel wins in connected bar feel. You can concentrate on the water as you know exactly where the kite is.
Both are nice but you might find a small crossbow fits the bill cheaper as you won't need to get a different bar.
