Hi Folks
Got my Peak 5 4m today :)
Went out in 11 -19kn gusty winds using my Onda 633 Foil. (68kg rider weight)All i can say....get yourself one!
Never flown a SS kite before, but yes just so good if you want to ride waves. I crashed the kite once, actually right @ the start, but relaunching was no issue whatsoever, reverse launch and up in the sky
Up wind riding is ok. Very good feedback on the Bar.
I used 50cm Bar with 21m lines.
Not sponsored, i pay for my gear.
See you out there
I've finally received stock of the 4m, 2.5m and 11m Peak5 kites and have been using the 5m Peak5 for a few months comparing it to the Peak4's which I've also been using in 3m, 4m and 5m until the Peak5's arrived. Of course it's rained incessantly over the past 2 months making any kiting a rare event
However when I have had the 5m Peak5 out I found it had a bit more power than the 5m Peak4, went upwind better and there was virtually no flapping. Because of the better light wind performance I went out in wind I had to be more careful gybing in, and in a moments of inattention lost line tension and the kite fell in the water. I was quickly able to reverse relaunch it and it seemed to be much easier to relaunch than the Peak4 kites. I also had a friend take it out who dropped it and relaunched it easily as well. So the changes to the Peak5 have definitely been worthwhile. The Peak4 was already a game changing kite for surf foiling and the Peak5 has just made it even more fun. Can't wait to try the 2.5m Peak5
Once you've tried the Peak kites it's hard to go back to LEI or twin skin foil kites. It also helps that they're an inexpensive kite compared to most nowadays.
For those interested I've got all sizes of Peak5 kites except the 5m and a few Peak4 kite sizes at a good discount available.
I had the 2.5 out today in gusty 11-20kn. No joke, this was a very beautiful session.Getting up i needed to fly the kite aggressively but once on the board just easy foiling. Again i to put the kite in the water right @ the start and managed to relaunch, but i have to say it is way trickier than with the 4m peak. Anyway be aware if you dont pay attention the peak will sink and float just under the surface, no chance of relaunch in such a case. But said that the Peak is not built for that.

Before the seabreeze completely finished for winter it had one last puff today, enough to try my new 4m Peak5. After a few trips to the beach where the wind did not blow as forecast, today it was gusting up to 11 knots on the beach with my wind meter, good enough for the 4m
I've previously used the 4m Peak4 and it was a fantastic kite, it was perfect for 10 to 16 knot seabreezes which are common in summer. So I wanted to see how the Peak5 version performed. Hotlaunching the kite on the beach it felt like there was plenty of power to get my 65kg up on my 990 sq cm foil. When I got to deep enough water a couple of figure eights across the window and I was up on the foil.
There were no other kiters about but there were two wingdingers on 4m and 5m wings from Sydney further out on the bay who were only intermittently foiling. I was able to easily foil upwind and ride some small wind chop downwind riding left and right as the chop appeared and subsided. The kite was as easy to fly as the previous model and only a few small differences. It felt a bit tighter and more responsive and there was virtually no flapping when fully depowered foiling on wave power. It pointed a little higher upwind and drifted possibly slightly better than the Peak4.
The wind did pick up a little and the wingdingers were able to get themselves foiling most of the time. Spent a little time foiling with them. I felt a bit sorry for them as it was harder work for them to stay foiling and I was able to easily outpace them and point higher.
Very happy with these new Peak5 kites. Virtually all kites nowadays are only incremental improvements on what has preceded them apart from material advances like Aluula. The Peak5 kites are made from a tougher fabric than the Peak4 kites and they are slightly lighter and definitely have improved on what was already a fantastic kite for foiling. Still the Peak4 kites I've sold which are over 2 years old are still going strong and in excellent condition. A kite designed for snowkiting up a mountain isn't going to be stressed pulling someone on a hydrofoil
