Hi,
After reading through what reviews I could find I figured I would like to find people who have ridden these boards so they can give a comparison/recommendations between them. For choppy conditions looking at progressing in freestyle and learning new tricks while still being able to use the board to go freeriding.
80-85kg, 6'2. I was planning on picking either the:
2014 138 Liquid Force LFX
2014 136 Fone TRAX HRD
2013 135 LaLuz. (138?)
What I want from the board:
- predominantly to be used for freestyle but also functions freeriding
- good for progressing new tricks, softer landings
- good upwind performance
- good pop
- good with straps (possibly change to boots later)
- comfortable on the body/knees if I'm riding long sessions
Typical conditions to be used in:
- choppy water, ocean break
- 15-25 knots so looking for good lower end upwind performance (15-18 knots)
Thanks
F-one boards are sic as, i hear the TRAX is awsome, i ride the Acid and has so much pop and solt landings but not good in chop, and they recon Trax is sort of sim but handles chop better. haveyou also looked at cabrinah boards, custom is a weapon!!! but best thing to do is try them out for yourself.
I can vouch for the lf lfx its a really nice board and superlight, its got a bit of flex so its pretty comfy when you are riding in a bit of chop but not so soft as to feel spongy. I ride in boots and got it to progress my freestyle as I did not feel comfortable jumping etc in straps. I am very pleased with it and prefer it to my other board 2013 north jaime pro. I have not really ridden it with straps though so not sure if it would feel different but it is definitely worth a try. Also the build quality is unreal compared to other boards lf really make an effort to make a nice board.
My vote is for the laluz, but I have not tried the other boards. But it does a lot of what you are asking, infact that what you have described is its exact design profile. Progression into freestyle with some freeriding. That is what I use it for.
The ltd edition is a little bit stiffer which really make this board shine. Quality is extremely good, as by the sounds of it the other boards.
Best of you can demo all those though, you will quickly know which one fits you best....
I just bought a Xenon Lalaz 135,have ridden it twice, powers upwind and cuts thought the chop unreal, quality build, soft comfy pads,I like it
Laluz will suit you just fine. Think you will be pretty happy with it regarding what your asking but it won't take boots. You'll rip an insert out in no time
Lfx is for rails man. Think it's got a fair bit of flex. I'd give it a miss.
My experience with the laluz. Good pop, fast planning, good upwind, good in chop. It's a great alround board that will see you progress
+1 for the laluz, the infra is more freestly and copes with boots, had a go of an older trax looked the goods but far too stiff, the 2hd nobile 2013 might suit but a tad heavy, north xride, flyboard radical very nice, but if all where layed out for me to choose I'd grab my shinn anyday

Older ones u had to get the right size board for ur weight or thats how they felt. Didnt matter where u moved the pads either
As others have said, demo what every board u can before u buy

Agreed, that's why you need to really try them at length. I'd choose the laluz over the shinn (and I have) but that doesn't make either one better, it depends on what feels right for you.
Sadly I cant demo any of the gear mentioned. :(
I'm thinking of the Laluz, has anyone tried the 135 and 138. Curious on which size I'm 82 kg.
Since apparently boots will not work with this board, what would be the reason to go with a 135 or 138. I figured it might be nice down the line if I wanted to try boots but if its the case that the Laluz is not deisgned for boots then that doesnt make sense.
I guess I'm trying to decided between the two sizes and the +/-'s for each.
Go the 135. I used to ride a 135 and I'm heavier than you. Sounds like the right board for your intended use. Good pop, soft landings, good in chop, good for progression in straps.
Have you looked at the LF Element? Its an awesome board for boots and footstraps (the LF straps are really good aswell), got really good pop and handles chop well. If youre thinking of riding boots go a size bigger so the 138, then you can ride boots and footstraps.

I have just bought a 135 Xenon Laluz am I am 86 kg,at 82 kg I would go the 135,I demo quite a few TTs from 132 - 138,the bigger boards felt aweward when I was doing transistions and I felt the smaller boards did not go upwind so easy,I think getting the right size ,eg length and width right is just as important as the brand you chose
Bought the laluz 135. I'm around the 90kgs. And its a lovely board, had it in the waves yesterday. Nice light board.
I can certainly vouch for the laluz. I have a 135 and love it have not tried the others tho
But you know what they say on seabreeze
Demo demo demo
