Anybody had a go on one of these? They look like a lot of fun, especially after watching Mark Shinn riding one on YouTube (type Shinn + Nobile Skimboard). Seem like a good board to have on those day when there isn't much wind.
Further to this, is it worth buying one of these at an inflated price, or just getting a standard skimboard (you can order one from Vic for around 280.00).
Your thoughts would be appreciated,
Cheers
Yeah skimboarding is fun. For about an hour at a time, then i get bored. You can use your skimboard with your kite as well. Do kickflips and pop shovits on them.
But as for Nobile vs standard surf shop ones..... I think you already know the answer.
Ive just got a $90 one and it works really well. Just keep waxing it.
Hope it helps. JMHO.

I developed a Nemo Skim with the guys at Nemo and it works pretty well. Has fin inserts where needed and rides just as good as a Nobile Skim (I was sponsored by Nobile in the UK and used them before they came to Oz). I currently have my Nemo Skim for sale. Worth a look. Can send pics too......
vic also make that wombat or what ever its called, tad bigger than a skimmer, designed to be paddled in but still hve the skimmer feel of ride.
Im gonna try my vic carbon when the wind is right.
I have been using a demo shin skimboard for the last few months. its pretty fun at first but I found it was hard to get good conditions to use it.
if you have nice small surf and regular 10-12kts it would be worth it. it gets boring quickly in flat water. and irritating in low gusty winds with large surf/chop
ive got a 07 nobile skim with board cover which i need to sell unfortanutly to fianiance a surfboard... u can take it for 300$
Ask Doogle,
He can sell you a magnificent Nobile 666 skim board after he took half the fins off his shiny new 08 model 666 on a sand bar this week.
It's his own design, apparently finless is the way to go, especially in St Kilda at low tide
Had the odd faceplant myself
I've previously posted a review on the Nobile, it is excellent and if you are willing to spend $90 on a cheapie then a Nobile should cost a Grand, the difference is that big. Choice Kite Surfing stock them and at the price they are a bargain
The board is awsome fun for flatwater strapless action. The better you get the more fun it is. You need to be patient, but the rewards are worth it. Don't bother with cheap skimboards as there is too much flex. Cabal make some great boards, but the Nobile has the advantage of sticking in some fins which despite nullifying it being a pure skimboard, makes it a million times funner and easier to ride in large chop or swell (finless is still awsome if conditions are flat). The shinn video is awsome. For other inspiration, check out:
That's a great clip!! Exactly why I want to get one. Hopefully mine arrives late this wk/early next wk. Cheers for the clip simon
