I'm sorry to all the SWITCH fans, but that is one of the wobbliest and distorted kites I've seen in years.Felix could ride a garbage bag and shred. This kite is borderline holding him back.No wonder they are cheap.

Sorry but wow.

Yeah ok I can see the problem now.

Rather than an 80-second clip where you DON'T see the kite for less than 20 seconds, what they should is make a Stoke edit: 2 minutes of location set up with the bros driving their SUV down the pristine beach and pumping their kites, then the final 2 minutes of epic close-ups on the riders, intercut with a second or two of slow-mo of the kite parked at the edge of the window and lots of long shots with wide angle cameras so you can't really see the kite.

Clearly a superior product!

but that was amazing how much kite footage of the kite there was in the kite clip.
that is about the highest ratio i have seen. this is unheard of.

Thought I would drop the below in here....

This is the real reason people put up pimping posts about switch kites.... Finally people will understand why so many 'These kites are the bomb' post from Mr Nobody kooks.

I was added to their mailing list when they first came on the scene and now I get an email from them every few months....Disclaimer... I have never wrote a review for them.

Now do the maths and work out who has been posting the most BS and how many points they have accrued!

Hope this sheds some light on this thread!

I actually thought this was a general discussion about the switch kites by kiters who have used them. I think you would be hard pressed to call any of the posts in here a genuine "review".

BTW this is the first online comment I have made about Switch - even though I have had an element 1 since 2012 (just retired for a nitro)- I will let you know if switch choose to "Reward me" for a general comment of this nature., although I doubt it , as any discerning intelligent buyer would like a "review" to be a comprehensive appraisal of the kite's build quality, ease of setup and performance against the conditions on the day(s) with lots of detailed information so that any potential buyer could get a reasonable idea of how the kite rates (usually compared with other kite brands the reviewer has used).

For those of us that feel we have a good value for money product with good service and are just having a general chin wag about the experience - Sorry if you regard this as BS.

Hate on if you wish..

Yup, there it is, right out there for all to see, quantified and regulated. Pretty sure it's on the homepage too.

Unlike all the other brands that do the exact same thing behind closed emails. Or others still that throw their weight around and get accurate but negative comments removed.

If you can't spot a realistic and balanced review of anything by this stage in your life, perhaps the Internet isn't the place for you...

There are plenty of arguments about switch selling direct - cutting out the middle man, local shops etc etc,

The current switch marketing is not unique. Unless you have been on the scene for 8+ years, you may not have known what Best did during the mid 00's, Best made their name (in kites) doing exactly the same thing, using on line pimps, rewarding referrals, selling cheap kites only online - buy 2 kites get one free - those 3 kites were around the same price as just 1 Naish, North or Slingshot. A late comer to kites will always have to do similier things to get there brand out there. Unless you can shake the market and create demand for your product you wont be able to compete with the bigger established brands, Nathan from New kites come to mind, he had a very good quality, reasonable performing product ( the smaller sizes were much better) at a good prices, just lacked a bigger sales pitch to get them out there

EVERY brand has had dud years and major quality issues at one time or another

In the last 12 months, i have brought 3 new kites and bars, 2 naish and 1 switch, the naish kites and bars have not had a single issue, the switch kite and bar has had a few issues, all were fixed by switch,

On a side note, i thought i would hypothetically try out switches 30 day satisfaction guarantee- turns out 30 days starts the day it is posted from hong kong, kite also needs to be back at their warehouse within that time, so being in a slow postage corner of WA i would only get a 5 day window to try it out

I had a couple of New Alibi kites, 8 and 11.

I paid something like $1500 for two kites and bars.

I thought they were great kites.....

yeah man, the alibi held its own against the big brands at the time, i had a 9m and 14m OS, from when he first started, the 14m had some small design problems with the wing tips, the 9m was awesome, i would still rate it up there as one of my top 10 favorite kites, i have ever flown

When you earn good salary you can afford decent toys.

When you don't you experience disappointment.

good luck selling those bad boys for more than 200!

Agreed!
Want to be part of the craze and buy cheap, then good luck selling it.I bought a brand name kite, 4 years ago. Yep it cost me more then i could afford at the time, but i looked after it, sold it for good money and ever since then the pain has been far less to upgrade every year. Also, do you get red thumbs because you don't buy switch, or do you get red thumbs because you do?

On the flip side though, I don't really care how much it sells for because I didn't pay nearly as much for it.

When I was flying Cabrinhas, I made damn sure to put a reserve price on my auctions to recover some of my "investment". When it's time to sell my Switch gear, I'll probably just throw them on eBay starting at $1 and be happy with whatever I get. $200-300 would be fine with me.

Yep. At least one other forum. Want a wave kite . . . Pivot is a turd, Park is ok but too vague, Ozone isn't worth the risk. Not interested in a Rally because I forget why. North is a Tampax box. Bandit I should try again but I didn't like it first time around.

What's that leave? . . . Drifter? Too much Cabrinha stigma
