So, many of us know that the earthworks done last year or so to extend the St. Kilda marina didn't really do their job to return the space to the condition it was in before. I'm interested to know that If I try and get KBV, the kite schools and St. Kilda council to arrange a day with things like wheelbarrows, bins (maybe some earth moving equipment if possible) to try and help restore the conditions of the beach area.
There are so many rocks left over from the marina expansion earth works that its dangerous to our feet and boards. I don't want this to be something people say "hell yeah I would" and then not show up coz they don't care doing something for the greater good. But kinda like a "clean up Australia" day?
I think that's a great idea but beginners should not be allowed to participate. The cleanup should be limited to riders who perform advanced unhooked tricks only. There is just not enough room for everyone.

Hi Mick Yes , Tah for the prompt . Its been on my list to do for some time. I’ll call the contractors and council to try and get something happening ASAP. In the past they have been very helpful in any such requests. Regards Rick Elliott President KBV

Thats cool WeirdEd.. Make sure you include a picture of yourself so all those who DO participate know that you don't belong there.. EVER!! I'm sure 1 less selfish person in that area is a good start for everyone!
Not this weekend but the one after has a 0.2m low tide on the Saturday afternoon.
Which means the whole pond area will be high and dry around 6pm. Perfect for fix.
Most of the rocks are fairly small, a bucket could be used and then filled with ice afterwards to keep beers cold.
A digger would be epic to lower and flatten the whole area.
KBV Rick, can you please see if we can get a piece of machinery in,
Thanks.

Awesome effort Rick. Thanks
Yes, great idea. I'm keen to clear those rocks out etc.
They are also quite dangerous, with so many people kiting is such a great spot- hitting any part of the body on a rock - ain't going to be good.
Really , the yacht club should've made the contractors tidy this up when they finished the rock wall.
PS, I'm only a beginner kiter, and according to member "WeirdEd" - my manual labor isn't welcome. Maybe WeirdEd can clean the lot and us amateurs can stand around offering words of encouragement ?

Don't take him too seriously, he is weird after all

Sorry, bro. Didn't mean to offend you, of course you can come. And when you're done with the cleanup, drop by my house. You can help me get the house ready and prepare food and stuff for my party. I hope you don't mind that I wont invite you afterwards because we are partying at a very high level and novice partygoers just can't keep up.
Can anything be done about "the Stink" I feel like vomiting every time I go past. Surely not a good thing for tourism. The people I see sunbathing/swimming on that beach must have no sense of smell or to lazy to walk 500m

Yeh Lenny and I were there yesterday helping the guy but he's only doing the rocks on the very point of the sand bar not the ones on the beach where we launch

Replace the rocks with a slider or some other ramp!

Yes they know the rock as as per the photos I sent, eg where we launch... they are on it.. keep posted
What a dump
Suni, that's a photo of it on a good day ;-)
I wish those advanced unhooked riders would get a move on and tidy that place up...
Any news?
I spoke with them last year about the "rubble" left behind from the marina works...they said they would have it done by the end of August 2014
