Rosie was pretty up and down in the AM till about 3, then the front came through and us remaining got soaked... Still a great sesh
I was stuck at work watching the wind outside.... I haven't hit up Hampton in ages, can't wait for the big SW days there!
I was poised ... feeling all smug that I'd purchased a 7m... then when it came through, I realised I needed a 3m!

What did it get up to? I saw 40+ knots at one point I think.
Yeah, 4pm was my go/no-go decision time. It was around 55knots (gusts) so decided not a good idea. obviously at 4.10pm it dropped off to a respectible 40, then down to 30knots.
Moral of the story is: If the car is packed and you've got a window of opportunity - man up and drive to the beach!
Nice. Decent swell for MB.
Why don't peeps install grab handles? Is it a style thing? (I might be wrong but it looked like your twin-tip didn't have one.) I am hopeless and need all the help I can get grabbing my board.

Nice jimmy. I'm jealous. Def going shopping for a 5m
I had commitments in the morning so had the afternoon free to kite. Told the missus from 3pm onward I'm busy. Got home and started to pack the car and the sky looked fearsome. Went around the corner to check the beach out and saw the front coming in. Looked back at my car with my smallest kite being a 9M, my balls shrank and knew i was out of my league in this sort of weather. About 10 minutes later the storm hit with insane winds, so happy I didnt push my luck.
[edit] great video!
I went out at Hampton just before the storm hit. Setting up was a pain with me and my kite getting sand blasted.
It was gorgeous with big clean waves, but I had this feeling of impending doom so I bailed. I had time to pack up, have a bit of a romp in the waves (to wash the sand out of my ears), get changed and get in the car before it hit.
It was 35-45 knots just before the storm and peaked at 58 knots at Fawkner Beacon.
It was interesting that the storm did not look like the usual squall. I checked the radar before going out and I was expecting to see a big purple monster approaching from the SW. What actually happened is that a roll cloud went through, then the horizon blanked out from the NW. It looked like there was smoke from a fire at Williamstown. The horizon just went totally white then the storm just built from that.

Looks like Melbourne made up for letting you down on Sunday, James...
yeh sundays a dud but wait until you see what i scored to day epic point leo. I just love holidays
Sunday was awesome when I was there! You were an hour late!
The wind died moments after I got in (for a change). Normally dies when I try to get out.
