I'm prepared to get a whole lot of flak, but....
I was kiting off St. Kilda last night between St Kilda and Williamstown - a little way out - and I saw what I initially thought was a log about 10m long. It was a wierd shape, without a fin or anything, and it sunk into the water as I got close. I've got a strong feeling it was a small whale.
Anyone else seen any big marine activity up the top of the bay ?
I know there was a sighting a beacon cove in July (http://port-phillip-leader.whereilive.com.au/news/story/whales-seen-at-beacon-cove/).
I wasn't deliberately kiting over to check out a whale (just in case I get flamed), I honestly thought it was a log.
ye ive seen a huge humpback whale about 200m off brighton beach one morning, ive seen heaps of dolphins at brighton and st kilda, 2 sharks at st kilda and loads of penguins, heaps going on so no doubt it probs was a whale
Altona shark??? mr jaws do you think it might of been at st kilda?? the one that came in last summer in the bay?
Dunno about Whales or sharks but i have seen dolphins and penguins in St Kilda.
The penguins were following and chasing me the other day by the harbour wall.
