Hey all, check from page 106 of the Rockingham City Council minutes for March:
rockingham.wa.gov.au/your-city/council/council-and-committee-meetings/agendas-and-minutes/2024/march/ordinary-council-minutes-march-2024
Keeping the fully fledged boat channel open is no doubt a futile thing, but keeping the pond itself 'open' and flushed and watersports-inhabitable is definitely more possible. The council minutes suggest that keeping it open for kiting (and other reasons) has merit and may be how the pond works into the future. This would include low-volume dredging campaigns to keep it flushed. See from page 113.
Can I suggest that all the pond lovers respond to the minutes, and send an email customer@rockingham.wa.gov.au to tell them your needs and desires around the pond. Reference what you read in the minutes and let them know how important it is to keep the pond open to watersports. Don't waste yr time typing something here, email them, do it. If someone has the face books maybe post something like this there too pls.
You'll garner more support if you make it easier, by posting the email address and the points to address and a sample letter.
What were you thinking Simon??? how dare you expect people to follow a link that you've posted and take a few minutes of their own precious time to send an email of support to the address you've supplied.
You gotta spoon feed these babies dude. A sample letter they can cut & paste is a must and even then it'll be too much effort for some. But guess who will biatch & whine when the pond gets all silted up & they can't boost to the moon in their little local patch of water.
Hey ,Ant from SoulKite here .I'll get intouch with Becky from KA/KWA and see what can/has be done from their end to put our cause forward.Following that I'll get intouch with Andrea from Seabreeze and Mark from WA surf so we can push it out via our socials .But realistically a combined approach via KA/KWA is going to be the best option .
