I am going to spend 8 weeks in Kunnunurra soon and wondered if it was worth bringing a kite. Does anybody kite on Lake Argyle? I have seen a thread where it shows it is possible, but would be keen to hook up with anybody who does it and find out where to launch from etc.
Lived there for 4 years. One of the least windy places probably in Australia. Like so many tropical destinations. We did get some wind apart from tropical storms but only bother bringing a LW 17 or 19 and a big board. Add the crocodile factor and it is just not worth it.

my thoughts are with you, poor soul
I've been up there to visit the old man a few times now and there is bugger all wind but in the dry season (now) there is the odd few days where a 12-17m kite would work up at the lake. And spoke to the old man last week and he said it's been blowing for a week. Only problem with the lake Is what "beaches" or suitable launch spots there are will only be accessible by boat and may still be under water because the lake was 5m over full this year. Drift launch off a boat may be the only option. It will be a SE wind so East side of the lake there are a few spots where the hills open out and flatten off I reckon that would be where you'd wanna go. The fishing up at the lake is crap unless you like catfish so if you have a boat and there's a breeze and your done sight seeing give the kite a go. You'd be one a a few that have done it. I'm taking a kite next time just in case. We always take the wakeboard and a tow rope up there.
Thanks for all the advice guys but it all sounds too hard. Season will be starting by the time I'm back.
