Yeh that looks awesome. I'm talking about one around perth area or more south of the river? Where is kellerberrin? Or might be a really silly question but what about bibra lake or some of the ones in Cockburn area?

Surely that would be gusty as hell, muddy and bound to upset the locals? Better off spending the day across the road on the water slides

Last time I went out to baandee the salt was so built up I cut the c##p out of my feet. This was probably a month ago. There's been hot weather and little rain since then. I'd wait till the lake is fuller

Dunno Dusta, did you go up to it and check it out? The shoreline was 25m from the bank last time I went, full of crusty salt. Maybe I'm soft.
Inbox me next time your in the wheatbelt and we can check it out together. I'm still a beginner but am keen for some company when I go. I'm usually out in the wheatbelt Mon-Wed and sometimes Thurs. Free in the arvos

theres a cable ski just off mundejong rd going east of the freeway but befor that theres a huge lake there seems worth a look?

2 endangered protected species (thrombolites etc) and no space to launch anyway, maybe leaving it alone and driving 2 minutes to the beach?

Been a bit of rain lately. Might be ok, but I think it will be a tough job. Will have a look on Monday arvo.

There are a few posts near the boat ramp that are good for a tether point for a self launch. I tend to use the snatch strap anchor point on my Patrol if the wind is no good.

i would say prob water has receeded in areas by 50m. i've not driven around the right side of the lake , are there any good launch spots around that way ?

When the lake is full you can tether to a fence, but the lines get dangled on scrub. I still feel the car is a better tether point. The track to get there is a little rough but I've been through there in my old Falcon so it's do-able in a 2wd.

No wind this week mate, shame...

No, just before the boat ramp is a track off to the right that goes past the shade shelters. If I'm at the boat ramp trying to tether I just use one of the posts of poles already there.

Previous trips there has seen the water levels much, much higher and there has been no need to go onto the lake-bed itself. Last time I was there I did drive over the lake bed but then had to spend over half an hour the next day hosing the salt off the bottom of my Patrol so I'm not doing that again.

This is definitely the lowest I've seen the lake for about 3 years.

Hi RussKraut, the first half of you reply was help full and informative. However the last half was sarcasm and didn't need to be said. That's why you got red thumbed
