Hi I have just moved to Canberra, being a seasoned kite surfer this is difficult for me so I am looking in to getting a land board and kite. What gear would suit Canberra wind conditions? Douse anyone know of people or places to kite here or am I just wasting my time?

Thanks heaps people

hey mate,

wander out to Amaroo ovals up NE past Gunghalin in ACT for the local CKC (canberra kite community)

there are a few very experienced landboarders there, but you'll need to ask around, also with snowkite experience (not tried that myself)

Peace

Hey mate, I always recommend people start off Land boarding with a 3 or 4m foil which are ideal to learn the basics on in lighter winds around 15knots and then eventually use as a higher wind kite once you become more experienced.

You can check out our beginner and intermediate land boarding packages here - www.kitepower.com.au/landkiting/landboarding-packages.html

If you want to get a kite that is depowerable, like your inflateable then you can look at some bigger foils like a 6 or 8m Ozone access or a 7 or 9m Ozone Frenzy. Just make sure you learn to fly these and activate the safety systems in LIGHT winds, as screwing up on land hurts A LOT more than on the water ;)

Give me a call at the Sydney store if you have some more questions. This forum hasn't got a lot of land kiting traffic but hopefully it will keep growing.

Peace
