Im heading on the 9th until the 19th of August for some boarding but im not sure if I should take my gear.
Is anyone else heading over around these dates with their kite gear?
Ive heard of a place called Snowfarm, is it close to Queenstown or Wanaka?
hey champ
If you are heading to Cadrona, you should hit up the Wanakite team and kite with some locals. www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=126798544062887
We will be kiting at Snow farm (20mins south of Wanaka) and some other areas I believe. Will need own transport/accom. But at least you will get local knowledge.
Cheers
yeah, snowfarm is the goods. you can stay up there if you know the weather is going to be good and they're not car testing (early season they do all the cold car testing fir the big euro car brands all very secret squirrel and touchy about cameras) but after it's over its cool. last yr I was paying 100nz a night for 2 meals and a packed lunch and could launch within a 5 min walk.
I'd recommend getting a guided day by the boarder patrol guy and he will let you know all the good spots for certain wind conditions. including piza, old man and old woman ranges and off the back of cardi. all are drivable from the farm or wanaka and will cover nearly all wind conditions but he's pretty tight lipped to people just hitting him up.
ps if you find a ride machete at the bottom of the piza range it was mine it got flipped over at the end of full moon kite session and went wayyy down.
We never did find that board. Damn shame really! Give me a call when you get into town and I'll fill you in on conditions and whats going on. 021 0250 9650
