Hi to all
I just signed up ... been reading a heap of post on here and it has inspired me to build a land yacht...it's been really good and awesome to see how supportive everyone is ....

So I would like to build a 2 seater .
Any thoughts on the steel I should get ( round or square) .
How heavy I should go with the steel?
How heavily should I brace the mast mount?
Iam thinking about a 6m sail as I have 2 old windsurfing but all my sails have been rat eating.
I think the mast are about 4.5 m long.
I have sat down and scratched out a bit of a start plan but not sure if I should go with it
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated

Why a two seater, would you always sail with two, if not the balance will always be a compromise equally it's got to be big enough, it will be heavy, difficult to transport and need a lot of sail power. Loads of construction ideas on the forum, look for ideas that best suit your needs, your materials and you construction skill level.

You can have your cake - and eat it too!!

Go for a standard "Lefroy Mini Explorer" single seater - easy to build and they work well.

While building the Lefroy - make the sidecar setup like the one Chook built.

I wan't to be able to take my better half with me sailing ....
And might try to set it up so I can position one seat back In the middle when she doesn't come.
I'll take a pic of my scribble tomorrow and try to put it on here ( ham pritty crap with computers and technology) for you guts to ha e a look and see what you think..

Forget about the trouble of extra bracing (trust me! ) and go with a single chassis tube down the middle, with a tube welded off of it to hold your mast. Make the seat out of plain old plywood.

Essentially build a Lefroy mini but just make it a little wider and longer if you like. I would go a little thicker steel tube for the axles due to two people though if you go wider.... If it were me I would add 100mm each side for width, and 200mm longer so you can weld a mount for foot pedals off center (or center if you don't mind sitting at an angle).

Alternately you can make a seated trailer and add to rear for those occasions required
