Starting with new hubs made a furnace. Smelted down Coke cans and scrape of scaff tube. Used a dog food tin for mould. Have now turned up two hubs. Will post as I construct the wheel. My 26" fibreglass wheels are still going strong after 3 seasons

Groved hubs to lock in fiberglase spokes. Sanded paint of fat bike rims with 40grit flap disc. To get a good epoxy bond to fiberglase ics

Looking fantastic Vic!!

Greg's trick to get total adhesion to the alloy rim/parts is to spread a thin layer of slow setting epoxy over the already sanded alloy parts, then sand it all over again with 40 grit, while it's still wet, to get a wet "grey slurry" happening as you assemble.
This prevents the alloy from oxidising (as it will in minutes) as there is then absolutely no exposure to the atmosphere.

Dics are one layer of woven plus one chopped . Eight spokes. Made of one layer of chopped. Rims have all paint removed with 40 grit flap disc

You make it look so easy. What size bearings did you use? What brand of dogfood works best for the hubs? Do you glue on the second cover by smearing every contact surface with epoxy then pressing it together and holding it down with some weights while it hardens?

With the short 200 metre claypans we play on up here minis are our best option for fun. I'm not certain if fitting big wheels like these will make us go any better but they look far more sexy than Mr Fallshaws offerings. Fingers crossed to find a broken fatbike at the tip now.

Bearings 40mm od- 3/4 inside dia
Any 4" dia tin for mold
mark the discs so you know where the spokes are. turn the disc over and use a thick epoxy past (I use west one and microfiber balls) Lay discover the wheel and clamp down. Cheers

Saw this random post on instagram; thought it was an interesting idea on modifying wheels:
