Thumbs Up

Hi All, I'm building an ST49 in Reno, Nevada. I've been using John's plans on this website and they are great. A couple of questions about wing/sails. Are the wing and flap permanently together or do they come apart for transportation. Specifically, the plans call for two "mid-wing hinges" that look lIke they could slip in and out. I'm wondering should I epoxy the hinge into the wing and leave the flap end free to slide in and out?

Also, the ST49 weighs about 265 pounds. Is that too much weight for wheelbarrow style wheels? I'm leaning towards 16" diameter trailer wheels and tires, the kind that bolt on to a hub with sealed bearings. Does someone have a closeup photo of how those attach to the plank?

Last question for today. The videos I've seen on YouTube show wing boats with (to me) really slack rigging to steady the wing. From my water sailing days I remember the rigging as being somewhat tight, just a little slack. Is there something peculiar about a rigid wing/sail that needs a lot of give? Anyway, thanks in advance for any thoughts you might have. Steve
