The hangman noose or neck traction unit [portable]
never leave home without it, headakes and pain due to compressed
neck vertebrae [old sports injury] we all carry them and they can come
back to bite us. So no medication , when things get real bad, just do
20 minutes like teddy here. weight 2 bottles of water or tins of fruit , or stones
about 3-4 kilos, packs up real small

my injury cost me dearly, invalid at 48 , 20 years ago, severe depression,
lost my marriage to a great woman and disjointed from my children, so you
blokes if you have pain , get it checked out. I knew something was wrong
from about 28, but didn't act, until it attacked me. 2 artificial shoulders later,
and 20 years elapsed has me now in a situation where thru determination
and a bit of mongrel, i have my life under my control . Cause you get into UKULELES
nothing can be bad, or i haven't met one yet, what a mad fun mob,
don't ever give up or in.....fight life like a mad man. Oh yes i am to have a total knee replacement in about 6 mths

sorry, maybe, but i do think it is a construction subject....construction of your skeleton, very important...thanks Teddy

let me get this right your a 68 yo invalid with back and neck problems and severe depression and who is going to have a total knee replacement in about 6 mths
and your about to embark on an outback trek without backup and support?

I hope you have insurance to cover the cost to other people and resources to rescue a fella with a dream

That's ok ricko, you are not me, you can have your say, you don't fraz me.

Some don't have the guts to stand up and be counted. I think you may be a bit or a red neck.

So you tell me where i am going and what you know of that in detail. Your just mouthing off

Don't judge people by your standards. Get A Life . I would have more problem with an avatar like yours.

it could be enough to get you kicked off outback property's. guns are for big dicks or small iqu's

Disabilitys are not an end to life as we know it, unless you are silly enough to play with guns as the blade runner,

Put your money where your mouth is or read on . I've got a grand to say you are very wrong, cover it.

Now should i cry or call you a disability discriminator.......illegal in Australia........

Hiko tests, well there have been delays, everything has taken longer than expected

it is hard to get trades people to fit ones agenda ...i have to fit theirs, so it's 2 mths behind

but still on time for departure. So actual road testing has to be the area that takes the hit,

saying that and going on previous builds of the same chassis, my instinct says it will do the job required

at this point of time my sails are with the artist and will be for the next, min 3 max 4 weeks while

she does her bit which i am sure will add another dimension to landyachting. I too have to wait, bugger, bugger, bugger

but i am not going to stress, i'm not like that. It dosn't leave a lot of time for road testing. I Know. "questalavi" or something like that.

I am expecting to do a little demo when the sails are finished, for the cameras, and last minute gliches.....best i can doo

Yep tp1 your right ..was thinking you be the man to do testing ?

but no I couldn't afford you.....some more shots of brakes posted back the front

this image is just the trim and eye piece to actuator

from memory the orange belt placed over the tempory black spacer belt

black spacer belt so that orange belt has minimal clearance on

drum when lever is at rest / nuteral/ no drag/ not in use

how ive done the end of belt, folded add liquid nails, staple. hold in clamp

48 hrs then holepunch and alloy rivett, should hold

shows belt orange tye down, black old seatbelt [spacer]
timber , length template , when correct length deciede hook over 1/4bolt
and drill required length, add other bolt , then allways be the same for
future replacements

Very Happy....just finished installing l/h brake and static testing 9/10 design, 9/10 function, 9/10 stopability.

hell i'm happy with that. couple of small points of note. lever plate axle to actuator could possibly do with a lite reinforcing,

gusset, there is a smidgion or nano whatsit movement when braking, but that was anticipated in production, it's not immediately needed.

bit of squeezy to fit up one end of brake band belt, but if you have ever worked on landrovers then its a breeze .

my first belt length could be a quarter of an inch or about 6mm shorter. so for the first belts will go with now length but

will shorten for the next two to keep the belts standard as such.

this system is not designed for heavy braking but for the applying of steady increasing pressure, it works wonderfully

So when my next willing visitor turns up I will do a couple of action shots...needs more hands than i have to do.

the actuator levers could be about 8" or 200 mm longer, so will cut a couple of old golfsticks and weld to existing

Thanks Lauky......will have t otherside finished tomorrow....then find a gentle slope and a few

test runs... and maybe a more adventurous one, but rain tipped here tomorrow, may spoil the party,

don't really wish to try straight out with wet brake belts, will leave that for a beach somewhere sometime.

It will not be in contention with my proposed usage, which is for dry times, passage.

Am off now to see the final drawings for my sails, if all Ok painting will progress real soon, hearts pounding, feels good

got it out and had a test run yesterday, a nice downhill coast, made 60kph easy

and the brakes worked well with 2 exceptions. The actuator levers are too short only one

at a time can be used, so will have to extend them by 300mm, weld on a couple of old golf shafts.

the other thing is that the bracket for the lever needs the reinforcing gusset, there was some movement

that could be felt when applying the brakes.

A problem here with metal wheels. One would expect that a wheel would be perfectly round, but my lathe people inform me

this is not the case. The tolerance on steel hub wheels [pressed & welded] can be significant in engineering terms

so they do tend to wobble a bit when in a lathe. Adjustments by hammer were carried out until a happy median was attained.

but still that little wiggle is [hardly] evident ....one lives and learns

took some pics but had exposure set wrong, just white outs, Oh well it happens!

will be setting up mast and main sail rigging today
