all the wind gods got together today. after letting me have a 25km screaming fast bike race i then got punished for 25 kms back to the finish line for a 5th place ,just behind a past Australian road champion mind you
then pack the van and out to the clay pan ,spurred on by sylk. had a great little sail as a minor weld broke on the 3rd power gybe and i spat a rear axle.
bit of re-engineering this week. bens mini sailing Reeeeeaaaalllllyyyyy well
bryans restored 1991 VIKING looks and sails great

yacht felt great, but the axle locking failed on the 3rd gybe, but its all modified and painted cos it rained after lunch and i had to go home
knocked out a seatbelt and cushion tonight, just a carbon mast to whip up, as i was running lyndons mast on the weekend.
we will be putting a small memorial out on the island over the long weekend so save a beer to have out there

before the weather got too cold y3esterday I whipped up a CUSHION!!!! and a velcro belt. just need a blanky now and Im good for for a big night

Ive strated on laying some carbon stiffening onto the lower mast section. . Im out of 48/44/40mm T8 ally so its onwards to carbon mast world. this mast will be a 3 piece with anIMCS number of around 36.
the carbon is held inplace with tape then epoxy worked in before tight wrapping with packaging tape. thanks greg in Esperance for the tutorial.
this section has unidirctional carbon over the full length .

heres the new storm sail. it should come in at 4.8m this time around instead of adding to foot of the sail,im adding sail area to the head to stop the sail from twisting. usual recut of the luff curve. pocket will be a brand new one as ive got a bolt of cloth to cut them from

ran out of daylight to rig and take pics, but i whipped up a mast crane just before dark ready to rig tommorrow.
sail took 3hrs on the machine to sew then 1hr for battencups and to reshape some battens, as i like softer tipped NZ style battens these days.
boom is low % carbon untapered windsurfer mast with no internal stiffening
