sorry I haven't put much up on here of late about the Kingston aussie day bash, been kinda busy with other things,, anyway for those that are thinking of making the trip to Kingston in the South East of South Australia on the Australia Day weekend YES it is still going ahead from Wednesday 22nd Jan through to Monday 27th Jan which is the Australia day public holiday, sailing will be from Friday to Sunday or Monday depending when you want to head home.. Just on the northen side of Kingston is the giant crayfish tourist center, can't miss it, meet up there about 9.30 Thursday 23rd for directions to the claypans.....Lachlan,depending on when you arrive can you meet people out at the big crayfish ? I may not be there until Thursday arvo...Pm me if that's going to be a problem..

Yep, no worries. I can be at the Big Crayfish between say 9.00am - 10.00am Thursday for anyone interested (other times if arranged, just PM me if interested or leave a message here to get the ball rolling) 
I'm hoping to get there Wednesday evening.

All good stuff, at least 3 of us getting there from the central coast of NSW. We're booked into the caravan park from the 20th but will probably arrive a bit after the 20th depending on detours. Looking forward to some fresh crays.

Should be there early Sunday about 8 ish. The boss lady's birthday bash is the Saturday night and apparently I won't be missing that....
Booked a site for my swag at the caravan park for Sunday & Monday nights, so hopefully will be able to get a couple of days sailing in. Plenty of space if anyone wants to share the site.

Jeez, I still haven't had my yacht out since last years event 
I haven't been down to see what the clay is like im told its rather damp. Im hopeful that we don't get any more rain and we get a few hot days between now and the end of the month so just keep in mind that the clay maybe wet. If that's the case and it's not sailable there is always the beach. .. im sorry that I haven't been able to get to the clay before hand but haven't had the chance. Regardless we'll have a good weekend.

Our little group from the central coast NSW are packing and stacking our landyachts for the expedition.
Really looking forward to the bash. Will be there from late Tuesday 21st.
I'll be arriving on the Wednesday, hopefully mid afternoon if the drive goes well.
Tomorrow is my yacht inspection and prep day
So far so good...everything seems to be coming together. The hot weather should be drying the clay pan out a bit.
In case anyone wants to know for the Thursday/Friday meeting times; I'll be driving an 88 model white hilux single cab ute (mesh cage on the back, trade roof rack, white bullbar, spotlight in roof). Maybe I can put some traffic cones in the back of the ute too just to top it off.
For those of us who need to keep the peace with the Minister of Finance & War and are unable to get down earlier, please would one of you fellas give some directions from the Big Crayfish to the clay pan.
I'm leaving the Little Big Smoke at sparrows and should be in KSE by about 8 am. I'll just go straight to the pan and worry about the caravan park later.

Hi everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying the quiet time before sailing season. Just wanted to post the link to a newer Kingston 2014 video as I have now completed it as much as I can (good old Windows Movie Maker strikes again).
Saltylips sent me some footage that his mad group captured and I thought it would look good included (omitting the nudity of course). Resolution is on the lowish side but not everyone has ADSL2+ and the vid is a little long... Next year I hope to bring along a dedicated camera operator

Our group sailed four different yachts, Kev on a wooden platform, Max had his trombone (the whole capsule could be pulled up to weather) and his Birdsville yacht with electric powered hub assist and my yacht. You had your two yachts, one was a paddock basher with 14" car tyres that pulled some awesome speeds, as well as your mini, which outperformed everybody. Acceleration was phenomenal. Beachball had a small stable as well. His blowkart was quick and easy to sail. Thanks Tony for a run in your blowkart, it really is a well put together product, I could get to like it. A leetle twitchy for me, but very enjoyable. Your other yacht was a sleek 70's production model, sorree forget the name of it, but the lake bed was to damp for you to give it a run. But, the coolest looking yacht with fibreglass pod and faring out along the back axles.
<div>Doqo turned up with a freshly minted mini landyacht and had some good runs. We had a scary biker wheel up who got excited talking about his landyachts from the 70's. I asked where he was from, said something like, Snowtown a "barrel of fun".
Lachlan's dog is cool too.
I enjoy the concept of social sailing with emphasis on being somewhere and sailing to enjoy the wind. Thank you to Lachlan and Tony for their efforts in organising the Play on the Clay at Kingston.

Hi all yep it was great fun just sailing and enjoying the company of like minded people, ,the big yacht was the saber not sureif I'll have it wuth me this time but time will tell i guess. Looking forward to seeing a lot more yachts and blokarts this time, should be fun thats for sure
My 5.6mini is in parts getting a spruce up, and a mark 2 Iron Chook will be coming to KingstonSE. Hopefully I'll also finish my Promo(ish) in time to sail. I'll have my Father and Sister with me this time too, and the dog.

An idea we have had is to camp/set-up further down the lake to get a better view of the sailing action. Usually we set up right in the south-western corner but noticed a lot of the sailing occurs out of sight. Attached is a map showing where we were thinking. If no one gets to the lake before me I might even move up a little further, depending on lake surface conditions.

Anyone camping on the lake PLEASE be fire safe, we have already had 2 bad fires in SA so far, so remember NO OPEN FIRES anyone who breaks this rule will be asked to leave by the land owner..
Anyone going to kingston over the Australia day weekend due to the recent rains that we have had it is advisable that anyone driving on the clay pan stick to the edge of the clay pan to avoid getting bogged, ,also due to the lions club beach fishing contest being held at the same time sailing on the beach maybe a bit difficult due to the amount of vehicles using the beach and the amount of fishing rods being set up along the beach also.
I have just recently spoken to the land owner at kingston and the latest report is that the clay pan has a but of surface water on it at the moment from the recent rain events that have been here in SA, however with the warmer weather coming next week and with the wind that is blowing atm, the clay pan should dry out enough to provide some sailing. So at this stage and with the blessing of the land owner kingston 2015 is still going ahead..
