Lake Walyungup is now open, A bit earlier than usual. The next couple of weeks there is plenty of opportunity to tune up the yacht's and social sailing, before the season program starts. Caught me by surprise I am not get there until the 14th with other commitments DAM.
Sunrise at Lake walyungup
Great weekend for the Sandgropers, we had a very successful fund raiser (sausage sizzle at Bunnings) . Many thanks for those that helped.
Sunday was preparation for the coming season's racing which starts in earnest next weekend.
Everything was tidied up in the morning and the afternoon was a social sailing and an opportunity to have interested people have a sail in our yachts, plenty of smiles all round.
The way a couple of mini's were preforming last weekend I thought I better make an effort to get a little more out of mini Aus. I have cut up an old sail I had hanging around and hopefully it will be a high wind sail.
It looks like the centre sheeting on the seat needs to be back slightly to stop the boom pulling onto the mast
It is fine ,the rowlock in just floating on the mast when fully sheeted, There has been a couple of alterations since the pic was taken. It was a bit loose on the pocket in a couple of places (unpick and resew)
Broke my wrist on Friday, not a happy camper.
Looks like I might miss the first month of the season.
Probably the best time of year for the doctor too.
Last Sunday was our first race day, It was great to get back and see and race with everyone, There was a group that came down from Perth to give it a go. (in the morning before racing started) They are pretty keen to get into it and want to know how to go about getting some yachts. The season is looking good with a great agenda including the State Open Championship for class5 and 5.6 mini in January. I will post results in a couple of days. Get that wrist better Ledzephyrlin
Have a great Xmas everyone.
Cheers
Vic

Great days sailing on the first club championship day, the wind was a steady 20-25kph and made for great sailing. The mini field is growing with 7 yachts on the starting line. The class5 racing was exciting as a great course was set by Ron.

Great fun in the minis on Sunday.
I would love a sail in SOS but Phil has taken a real shine to it and it will be bloody hard to prise him out of it, he even insisted on running it against the 5's for the last 2 races for **s and giggles.
Yeah Paul the old boys yacht is running fine, he is a little disappointed he ripped the mast-step before the racing out at Lefroy in September. I think he would have done well.
looks like SOS just needed a fatter pilot. glad to see it it getting used. just let him know i will be doing an inspection. no siezed bearings, loose bolts rusty **.or frayed sheets ,no bunnings rope to replaced lost bits.
my new baby should put him back in his place
planning on selling the new beast after the event as i need some funds in Feb, so heres a chance to get in early with an offer BEFORE it gets a pedigree
class 5 might have to go with bigwheel/small wheel combo as well

Another great days racing although the wind dropping tested us all a bit. The mini numbers were down due to people being away of holidays , but a good fleet of class5. My day did not end so well blew up the auto transmission on the way home to Bridgetown, not happy about that, But I can still get to the Open State Titles this weekend. Looking forward to catching up with the Goldfields and Esperance guys.

Fields were down due to extreamily hot weather but those that turned up had a great days racing . Only a couple of 5.5 turned up and raced with the class5 yachts. Howard AUS23 sailed my 5.6 on the day and ended up third (dam thing beat my class5 in one race) well done Howard. Barry AUS4 got his class5 going real well on the day and ended up second. It was very close racing by all,all day and was very challenging with the constant dropping off and changing of wind direction.
Every one bogged in and helped with setting up and putting away the racing equipment (thanks everyone)

22/02/2015 Memorial Perpetual trophy day for class5.
Excelent days racing with some very close finishers, the wind was above 20kph most of the afternoon . Phil got Pauls yacht going and i think that he will be getting quicker over the next couple of meetings. Don and the two Barries took some catiching over the course of the day. The minies were down on numbers as Phil concentrated on the class5 and Ron had buggeded his knee(hope it gets better soon)
Results It was a stand alone score day and points only applied for the day not the season.
