Hi all, got myself another sail to re cut this time a Gaastra 4.7, its a lovely sail and should make a good storm sail when cut down. I need to take out the battens but they are different to the sailing set up with which I am familiar. The ends have a device over which there is a tensioning cord and the end appears to have an internal thread could anyone advise how it is slackened to remove the batten?

when I recut the luff I will be cutting into the mylar is it possible to get hold of the self adhesive reinforcing tape, what is it called or what alternative would you suggest?
Thanks

that little kevlar cord can be slipped off of the batten end. you relaese the batten tension with a screwdriver or allen key first then slip it off with a small screwdriver.
last summer a hot day melted my self adhesive tape so i reverted to doublesided tape and regular 4oz dacron sailcloth strips
