Looks really good....though it does require you to be conscious so you can initiate the inversion onto your back.
Far better than traditional jackets though.

I like the splash cover but am in two minds about the idea of being towed by the back. Years ago we actually went offshore and jumped off a boat repeatedly, testing various bits of kit and ideas. Getting towed face first wasn't actually a problem if you dealt with it; you can lift yourself up off the tether and turn your head to breathe. Being towed face first made it a lot easier to duck under the water, which was critical if you were trying to pull yourself up to the moving boat. Your drag if you duck dived was a lot lower.

Being towed face first also made it easier to orient yourself when you got back to the boat and put your arms in a better position to grab the boat and pull yourself up.

Which position is better may depend on how agile the individual is, and how active they want to be in the recovery. We were all surfers etc and reasonably fit.

Of course, no PFD is going to cover all possibilities. Period.

However, it is an innovative new approach, no doubt.

My own SECUMAR S 220 was, when tested in moderately rough weather, impossible to duck dive with at any speed. May be a 150N bladder - which is the 'standard' this days - would allow that but not the 220N ones.
