Hi Guys,
i was wondering if anyone had heard of, or had used an antifoul paint called Nautix A88?
I know it's a soft eroding type, grey in color.
This is what is currently on my boat, and I'm really impressed at the lack of growth.
I've never heard of it , and my go-to guy for antifoul hasn't either.
Anybody know/used this before?

Nearest dealer to you is in Noumea, New Caledonia. There is no Australian stockist.

Thanks Loose,
I saw that on their website. Some gentleman that stopped by for a chat on the mooring one day said he used it in Sydney, hence my query.
It's probably highly toxic to small fluffy marine animals and illegal in Oz

Nah, that can't be it, or it would be banned in the EU, where they just love to ban anything.

Try emailing them and maybe stand by to be surprised .... they may even make you their Aus distributor.

Hi Shaggy

Noumea is only 795 nm from Brissie so you may as well sail her over there and pick up a tin or two

I'm heading up to Gladstone tomorrow to sail back her home, at this stage I'm going inside Fraser and through the bar before sailing down the coast to Moreton Bay. It's only an additional 500nm to Noumea, hmm.....anyone keen for a sail?

beam reach on that sled of yours looks fun but i have bribie cup on the weekend looks like a drifter to windward not so much fun but already booked in might pay to go outside Fraser the gybe angels look much more suitable to your boat than square run in Harvey bay even if you do have to push a bit of current

Hey Shaggy watch out for an angry whale with a big red welt across its back on your way home, visions of Moby Dick come to mind!

Unfortunately I have several confinements in hospital coming up for various procedures that now can't be changed. Otherwise that looks like it would be a real hoot with those indicated winds. Wet and wild comes to mind.

I have never seen it on the shelf but in my experience most good quality harder (semi-ablative) antofouls are on a par.

The amount of fouling is usually a factor of boat usage (you use yours alot, and fast too!), amount of fresh (we have had alot of rain on the East Coast) and how fouled other boats are around you.

I have had success with International Micron 66 but am changing to Hempel Olympic hard this winter, alot cheaper and a bit harder for mid season scrub.

Boty,
We elected to go outside after all.
And then it glassed out.
Grrr...
Mind you, so did Hervey Bay, so we made the right choice. We were quite a few hours past the bar before the tide would have let us make the attempt.
Ended up burning through 80 litres, I could have sailed more but the wind direction was right up our arse and light.

Wander,
I swear the bastard of a thing marshalled all of his mates and was stalking us, I saw waterspouts right on our arse and directly into the setting sun, I felt like a WWII freighter being hunted by a Uboat pack. Eery. We even had one right in the North East channel, but thankfully blocked by a whale watching boat as we bravely made our escape

The highlight was the start heading for Breaksea with fresh winds on the nose and flat water, then it blowing the dogs off chains in the last stretch to Green Island. Like most sailing, moments of sheer exhilaration and quiet reflective moments.

Are you doing the St Helena Cup?
