Is the $80 scare the hell out the shags owl making friends with all its feathered friends? And having a party at your expense leaving a very smelly pile of crap all over your boat?
Well last night I watched as a cheap solar light , the one with a senser kept coming on every so often from the waves on a mates yacht while he was away.
When he got back I asked him if he knew if it kept the birds away when it came on, apparently it does it scares them off thought it wasn't a bad idea.

Nope, never .
This channel marker with sea eagle nest ( currently two chicks) is at entrance to the canal my boat is in and they fish in the canals . Only birds that come near are Swallows in season and plovers.

We're trying something new that is working. We have an old motor boat mooring minder right next door to us on the swing moorings. It has a nice flat top cabin that is a perfect home for the cormorants and Pacific gulls. It took them a year to find our boat, but they have started to hang out on the Bimini frame and pulpit. We put a row of those boat pegs on the spots that birds like to land and it puts them off. It's doing the trick, no poo over the past month or so.

Sorry couldn't rotate the image... (is that possible in this forum?)

They make a bit of noise and they also vibrate along the lifelines .

Get one of these to move on board for a few weeks. Not had to clean bird poo off in 3 years. Perhaps birds have a long memory
