Wondering if anyone has details on the ballast ratio of the Cole 19 fixed keel version. All I can find on line is this which is for the swing keeler, ballast ratio 31.25%.

Good video here assume this is the fixed keeler;
From the video it appears that it is a swing keel. The fixed table gives it away @ 10.37.
Sorry, I don't have any details of ballast ratios. The 23 had a short and long keel version, so I assume the ratio is for the long keel. The short keels are mainly mechanical cable & winch and appear not to have been built by North Shore Yachts. The standard 160% headsail did nothing to help reduce the tippiness.
Nice headsail on the 19 tho. It would have been a rocket ship with that huge 8 powering it.
Thanks EC31. 160% headsails eh.........based on the mightily flawed IOR rule including pinched sterns and "connect up the dots to achieve the rating" designs .............way over the top as you say. Yes 4hp for a Cole19 would be more than adequate...........
From my handy "Observers Book of Sailing Craft of Aust and NZ", one of the best $10 I ever spent:
Cole 19
- LOA 5.79m
- Beam 2.13m
Draft 1.21m
Ballast 272kg
Sail Area 21.5m
Centreboard 181.4kg
internal lead ballast 90.72kg
