I'm guessing it's the gas bottle locker with a vent/drain out the transom.

I initially thought the same thing Don, but on reflection it would have to be the transom one would think.

Hi Shaggy

How is that Pogo of yours going

Common sense says it should be at the back of the cockpit (you can see the cockpit drains in the photo as well) but it is hard to see what the big piece of timber in the photo would be for at the transom

Regards Don

Hi Don,
Pogo needed to go to the boat doctor :(

Bugger

Is that on the trailing edge

How did that happen if you don't mind me asking

Hi mate,
No probs, and yes, trailing edge.
Reversing into the dock in the lightest conditions I think I've ever had, it was dark and the boat slid sideways no more than a foot. Really low tide, more than it appeared and she grounded on the boat ramp with the starboard rudder.
Thankfully, I was in neutral and doing no more than 0.5 of a knot. Took a strip about 6 inches high and an inch deep off the trailing edge, i just hope the rudder's not cracked.
Comes out Tuesday for 5 days. We drop her back in the day before we leave for Hammo...gotta love boat ownership :)

Hi Shaggy

That a shame but hopefully it will be a simple enough fix

Are you racing her at Hamilton Island

I have seen some footage on TV and it looks like a lot of fun

Wish i was there as it is a bit cold down here at the moment and the weather has been fairly ordinary with either no wind or blowing a gale

I hope you do well up there and get lots of video to post on the forum

Hi Don,
Thank you, and yep, entered in the Racer/Cruiser division.
I must admit I am getting twitchy, not long to go now. We're taking a GoPro to capture all the embarrassing moments, and one of the true legends of Aus rugby is joining us so I'll have to get some vids for the lady seabreezers. They'll have to try and work out who it is :)

Hi Shaggy

Don't really follow union as i grew up with league but i am sure you will have a good time and the boat will do well in the races

Also hope that the damage is just superficial and the repair is a easy one

Is the rudder fibreglass or something more exotic

Best of luck to you and your crew and let us know how you go

Regards Don

I think it might be worth checking whether the other Marauder 27's have tillers. I remember when Kevin Sheppard first designed this yacht it was meant to be a classy cruiser and a bit upmarket. The previous owners of my yacht went onto a Cole 35 and now have downsized to a Marauder 27 [with a wheel]. There is no balance ahead of the shaft but the skeg will certainly assist. The Currawong is similar but has some material ahead of the shaft at the bottom and is very light to steer. It's going to depend a lot on how long the tiller is. I steer sitting with my head next to the cabin top.

Hey Ramona,

Just noticed your Currawong rudder has had a hair cut compared to mine. At first I thought it was due the photo angle, but there is definitely a difference. I think most of the Currawongs are like yours, but my rudder is much longer. See below.(White topside & note my rudder is slightly turned in this shot) Do you know why there is a difference ?

Laafin was in the yard today and I got a snap of her rudder and it is the same as Ramona. See below (Red topside)

As far as I am aware Ramona is pretty much standard.
