Hi, I have Swanson36 with the number "1299" on a mainsail.

I've foundthat there is a sail-number-database here in Australia. I'm new to the forum, so can't post URL yet.

The registry shows that "1299" is registered to the "Quando" (Swanson36 - R. Benn). However, the "vessel registration certificate" I have displays totally different name.

Is there any way to tell if she was named "Quando" before?

Thank you

My memory says there was a Swanson 36 called Quando.
Check old Hobart results from early 1970s

Edit: check out 1972 Hobart results although there was a well known UK boat called Quando.

Go to love the ads in that program. Tritons, Folkboats, and Duncansons not to mention the cruises on the South Steyne to Pittwater and back. They ran them in pretty rough seas and they were fun with music and sing alongs as well.

Best $1 fun cruise to Pittwater + going to school on the ferry, hanging off the roof straps ,as the swell rinsed the lower deck . Then stayed on all day and then bus home . Education !

How times have changed . In that S/H there were 26 boats loa 35 or less. For about the same fleet size last year there were 7.

I have a few things to sort first. Then I'll post photos.

Huge thanks to Lydia! :-)

Check the headsails too, they'll all have numbers, 'cause there's also the chance it's a 2nd hand main and that your boat's PO bought it off Quando...

That was the whole reason for my question. I've been checking the condition of the sail, but I don't remember if there were numbers on it. Will re-check on Sunday.
