Hi all
This boat has been anchored in the river for the last couple of days and I was wondering if anyone knows any thing about her
She looks fast and I estimate she would be 50 to 60 feet long and looking at AIS i think her name is Gusto 1
Regards Don
I just googled the name and came up with this

Regards Don
The Swarbrick Whitbread 60 that was Elle racing at one point
Sort of!!
Had a coffee with the owner who gave me a flyer on the boat, which I've now lost, but from memory....she wad built as the original Volvo 60 'Elle racing ' but that campaign got another boat so she was a hull only.
Then someone got her and split her up the guts to turn her into an open 60 of sorts.
Don't know much from then until current owner added a new lifting keel, new carbon rig and some very nice dyneema rigging.
They still race her a bit but mainly a fast cruiser now
That boat looks like one living on Brisbane Water near Gosford in the late 90's. Had a girl skipper at the time who I met but with my Alzheimers I cant remember her name.
Haven't cruised such big boats, so I'm wondering - is it realistic for a couple (ie. husband & wife) to cruise such a boat offshore, even if it comes with one or two of electric winches ?

Coming back now
it was the first of the Chris Dixon Tokyio whitbread 60 then they built a Farr boat and raced that but dropped the rig on one leg but where clearly the best w60
Her story is covered in a couple of SA threads.

Can she be cruised by a couple? Depends on the couple. The owner can handle her alone according to a crew member I spoke to. My parents wouldn't stand a chance. Horses for courses.
Also did the 2007 and 2013 Melbourne Osaka race, IIRC. Quite a history.
Different gusto I think you will find
