Hi there brains trust
Anyone know where I could source these latches?
They are throughout the galley and head areas of my mid-eighties built Mottle 33 and some are close to needing to be replaced.
Thanks.
How bad is the pitting? I would imagine the easiest (and possibly the cheapest) option would be to sandblast and paint or even have them re-plated.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem
to be a supply of scrapyard boat parts. Not here in the west anyway.
There would be a high chance one of the two would happen Shaggy.
The idea might have merit, but what could you do with the fibre glass hulls? Wood, steel, aluminium could be recycled. Even a ferro cement hull could probably be crushed and reused somewhere. But fibreglass is is hard.
Wavesong, do you have a photo of where the latch has come off. We might be able to give you a few more replacement options..
The Boat Locker in Mona Vale NSW deals soley in second hand boat bits. They could be a scource if you can shoot them a pic of what you need.

I think you're gonna have a nightmare of a time trying to match those. I would still lean towards sandblasting and either paint or re-plate.
Or start changing the locks out completely. On a couple of my doors I've actually left the locks in place for cosmetic looks but replace the actual function of the locks with magnets
