Hi everyone,

Does anyone have experience with a lugsail sloop rig?

How is the yard attached to the mast?

I have acquired a small sailboat and want to understand how she is rigged. She is of the boomless variety :)

The yard isn't attached to the mast as such, the halyard runs from the fwd end of the yard to a ring on the yard aft of the mast then then to the mast head and down in the usual manner, the halyard passes the mast on one side and the yard on the other and sorta makes a mast sandwich? Its actually very simple and supprizingly effective.

Hope that makes sense

Nice, I can see how the traveller set up would be more ballsy on a bigger boat. I recon there's proably more variations than there's Luggers these days.
Dont know where I can get a ride on one of those whalers do ya ?

I think even the Sea scouts have moved on. All that painting would have killed them off.
