I'm on a holiday in Europe and currently staying in Nice, France. Here are a few shots I took today in Monaco. A beautiful day and only 2 or 3 yachts out on the water. Must be 2-3,000 yachts in the marinas along the coast between Nice and Monaco.

The big cutter is a private yacht, not charter.

I like the little yacht on its own in the pond. Probably the only one that gets sailed regularly and probably by a squillionaire just to get away from it all.

We did a cruise there 3 years ago. Barcelona, Marseilles, Monaco, Rome etc in the middle of summer with glorious weather. Saw one yacht sailing! Barcelona had a small fleet of lasers sailing on a Sunday afternoon but the flash catamarans and yachts were all tied up. Never saw any yachts at sea.

That little yacht looks like a Silhouette.

Photo is from Alaska a couple of weeks ago. Cold and miserable weather but saw more yachts sailing there than in the Mediterranean.

Monte Carlo is a crazy city. Here is what the marina looked like during the 2013 Grand Prix. Our stand was on the opposite side of the track from the marina. Talk about a circus..... we could have had tickets to sit on one of the boats, with all the trimmings, but that would have cost more than our airfares to get there......

Ha that reminds me of the early days of the Melb. Grand Prix at Albert Park. For$ x000's corporations could plonk their boat in the lake to watch the race. Couldn't see the cars but everyone got pretty sloshed over the four days.
