Hi does any one know of a mooring contractor in Brisbane. Im after a swing mooring in cabbage tree creek, but cant find any, I've google search and nothing in brisbane comes up.
I would be surprised if there are any, there's certainly none in Bundy any more. You don't need to have the mooring placed or certified professionally to satisfy MSQ. Suggest you read Cisco's post in this forum on DIY moorings www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Sailing/General/DIY-Moorings-Unitized-System/ not that hard to make the block but rather than float it out on a raft as Cisco did find a local trawler skipper and see if he will place it for you, probably only cost you a couple of hundred.

The trick is how to get them on the boat and in good place for deployment. Here's a photo of how I did mine, the forklift just dropped the block of the edge of the pier into the water with 20 mm rope looped around double to catch the weight and the anchor chain as a back up. The anchor winch then lifted the block back out the water and when we got out to the spot the anchor chain was removed and they lowered the block down with the rope wrapped around a cleat that was basically 3 heavy pipes welded to the deck and the rope wrapped in a clover leaf pattern but it gave very good control of descent, once on the bottom we just threw one end of the rope over board and pulled it free. You'll note from the photo that the mooring ropes and floats are on the cabin top which meant that the skipper had to climb over the side and attach, with the second weight we attached the ropes first.
