Icon is back in the big smoke for a few months before heading to Tsssie ,East coast and then the pacific.
i brought some second hand steps and modified them so they can clip on either side while docked in marinas. Just about finished will stick non slip on tommorow as whitworths was closed for stocktake today!

We are fitting silver dyneema 5 mm safety lines and a gate on both sides for access. Will be manufacturing new matching stauntion posts and bases tomorow to accommodate the new gate system.

My cute little step ladder is complete! I also moved the aft Staunton post forward which will create a removable safety line gate for easy access . I must be preparing Icon for my ageing body!

It was a $90 second hand one step ladder companion way step, I offered them $70 and spent about $30 . It's removable and will clip on the pad eyes on either side of the vessel. Beats the 100litre ice box I have been using for the past 5 years!

Finished pretty much will give them another coat of stain, looking today at putting the pad eyes on starboard side and the new stauntions posts, gates and dyneema life lines should go up next week.

That's what I pictured in my cloudy head at first, I think mine came out better as it's angled and adjustable.

Southace that's obviously a top job right there - but do you need a 3rd step at about the height of the top of of your blue stripe - it looks a big difference from the upper of your 2 steps to your gunwale.............you can easily fit a third and top one in between the stair stiles by the look of it, so as to make all the treads around 225mm height spacing as per recommended as below here; with your topside freeboard it seems like 3 steps are needed............so as to make an equal transition from each step to the gunwale / deck..............I would not rout into the stiles to place the new upper tread rather securely coach screw cleats into the stiles under the new upper tread and csunk screw the tread down into these - you will be onto it.............

Na the middle step is fine. To put another step in at the top would only be for a midget. Don't know many of them. I can always adjust the step higher if that was the case.
