Both nice boats and I imagine both very capable of cruising in style. The Holland boat looks like it started life as a racer and then got itself gentrified for cruising. Given they are both the same money, my pick would be the Jeanneau.

The downside to both of these boats as far as Southace is concerned is that he has said he doesn't want the hassle of duty and GST to import a boat from overseas.

The 46 footer in Croatia is an absolute steal at that price and even with duty and GST it is still a steal.

The Croatian one has US rego, that would need to be de-registered and then re-registered as an Australian ship. The other one doesn't list country of registration.

Hi FreeRadical

I that there were some older quality boats suggested at the time but he was looking for something that was fairly new and he seemed to be leaning towards Jenneau's

Methinks Southace is in SA, both of those boats in the pic, Vivaldi and Geomatic Joker are SA boats and looking at the line up of chimneys in the pic I'd say Marina Adelaide.

Lovely boat. I was really tempted by this one. Drove over to Adelaide to check her out but decided she was just too big for my use. Draft would have limited the occasions I could use my local slip as well. Kaufman 35 or 36, lot of boat.

There was of course always a reason as to why it was so cheap. As often stated on here, it pays to sometimes spend a bit more at the beginning and be saved from discovering very expensive dramas later.

I had to extend the skeg plate forward just to find some hard wood to get the bolts through! The engineer should be finished with the rusted shaft joiner,Vdrive and worn prop shaft soon and then I will check alignment and if possible sika the skeg and rebolt and hopefully be in the water tomorrow ready for a test sail! Bloody boats!

If the P bracket mounting is rotten, what about the keelbolts?

The keel is well built and full lead thank god! The skeg bolts under the main engine and flywheel had sunken 2 inches causing the whole skeg to drop. Mate was worried about the packing gland as he thought he had a leak! Lucky we made the 8 mile passage round to the slip way without further damage!
