I quite like this vid of one man's trip from Marina Del Re to the Hawian Islands and back. It's about 30 min;

....and this one is by the same bloke, Christian Williams, a collection of his family films of summer cruising in the late 50's and 60's, well put together and a nostalgic look at the way life was in the USA back then. Fifteen minutes well spent when so much on youtube is a waste of time.

Excellent video Guitz. While primarily a windvane movie it had something for everyone.

Perfect size cruising boat. Well rigged and efficient reefing system. But most of all a demonstration of the pleasures of a windvane.

Great vid Guitz. Thanks for posting.

I love the guy's attitude. Great achievement and not a bit of brag about him. The Erikson 32 is a lovely yacht and I really liked his fuel drum racks lashed inside the shrouds.

I liked the bit where he was talking to the long distance cruisers and they stated their boat sizes.

.......well after last summer's mistakes :) I am in awe of Cisco's docking procedure!
It was our first summer with the boat, six ton of Oz hardwood and lead. Queenscliff, as locals know, is accessed by a channel with a strong tidal flow. On our 2nd visit i tied up to the pier where the fishing boats are and when leaving, not thinking clearly, which can be terminal on a boat, i let go of the aft rope first while the tide was flowing in and it swung my hull around till it was jammed perpendicular to the pier with the front springer rope under high tension holding it in place!! I had a knife ready to cut the line but luckily I had cleated the rope properly so it could be undone. My daughter who was much less flustered than me calmly undid the springer on the pier and the boat swung around with the bow facing the incoming tide and the front rope holding her snugly to the pier. The few people fishing on the pier where highly entertained by the shenanigans!! A week later i decided to seek the calmer waters of the marina instead but unlike the tinny in the video gently clipping on and stopping at the pontoon, my boat, having the momentum of a freight train hit the pontoon bow first, at about one knot after i put my boat in reverse too late! .....you live and learn!

For entertainment i showed that docking vid to the family at our last get together and it got a great response.

Here's a video of my 12 tonne Adams 42 tub sailing 30 degrees hard to windward sitting on 6 to 7 knots in 10 to 15 knots of breeze!
I know I know ! the sails look crap they will be replaced in the near future!

Happy Holidays just 6 weeks ago or so now. (well they were happy once I'd ditched some baggage)
25kts gusting more. grooving along. having a pretty good time. It's a Dehler 36CWS and I live on it as well as race it offshore.

I can't.
pogo 12.50
I can't even.
pogo 12.50
that's pure cruelty posting that.
pogo 12.50
At the southampton boatshow they had to practically prize my cold dead fingers from the Pogo 12.50.
Shhhh don't tell the Dehler but one day; one day that Pogo will be mine.

pogo, mmmm

Wow that's stoken! I'm surprised how high you have your traveler to windward do you always sail her like that?

Yeah it was just giving enough twist in the main to keep us truckin' on 2 reefs.
Hard on the wind and pushing hard to stay as high as possible.

Though I think i probably dropped it down for a bit and slowed the boat down later when it was time to eat. I was cruising not racing. Little bit of civility sometimes is nice.

Sorry!
I hadn't seen a Dehler CWS before MisFit, that looks like a serious offshore capable boat. I hope the Pogo is as genteel in a seaway as yours looks, and Southace's. There is something to be said in the beauty stakes watching a boat marching smartly to windward.

Here is a short video Antione from Structures took. This is our first test sail day, T wind was max 23knots, angle 110-150, max speed 13.8 knots.
The staysail was up with a reef in, gennaker up, and one reef in the main. The T wind was probably 20 knots at the time.

Of course, I'm not really picky, I'll sail anything really. As long as it goes well. this 10m Dazcat is great fun. Cruises everywhere at 10kts plus. we were averaging 14-16kts most of the time and we were reefed down to 3rd at times.
I do the odd bit of video alongside my journalistic endeavours. I can't find my original for this video I made (edited and uploaded somewhere half way across the Irish sea) so here's a link hosted by someone else. Just 30 minutes later, that Gennaker blew out and we had to quickly drop it. (we were two handed, the boat owner is a retired magazine editor in his 70's) and er, yes that's my posh video voice. I'm actually from Yorkshire.
