Hi to all

Congratulations Don. You have one of the best yacht tenders ever built. Certainly it is the best one ever built in aluminium.
It is a shame Savage do not produce the Tern anymore.
Don't ever sell it. You may never get the opportunity to own another one.
It is like me and my Avon Redcrest. I would consider selling it for $1,000,000 but not a penny less.
This is what i used to use but with the oyster shells down here i was getting sick of patching it
It is a 11 foot Achilles hypalon with a marine ply floor

heres mine
The starboard side coming off mine so I wear a life jacket instead of fixing it. I better do it soon or Ill only be able to row with one oar circle work at sea no ute needed
I have to row softly at the moment the port side had a Hugh crack (air space) about a meter long . I really need to fix it
other wise I might not be able to row soon which could turn embarrassing I think ill sandwich the side with more ply and glass
The mast support fell off the other day I tired to drag the boat up the beach with it. She fairly heavy trying ot drag it up the beach also might have to find another truck soon most of the heavy stuff is done now
Hi Cisco
I picked the Tern up on gumtree for $500 so i am pretty happy
Regards Don
Hearing that annoys me somewhat except for the fact I picked up this little beauty for the same money some years ago. She is a Stacer Starfish and with the Yamaha 8 hp on the back, she goes like a rocket and with the spray deflector on the front has a bit of outside capability.
With the 4 horse Merc on her she will just plane but is a great work truck for when in port. Like my Avon Redcrest, I would not consider her for less than $1,000,000. Just too much fun.
Donk107,
might I suggest next time you paint the dinghy you change to more of a baby **** colour brown and make an untidy vinyl cover for your outboard. Around here inflatables and outboards are prime targets for theft followed closely by tinnies with outboards. Tohatsu/Mercury are preferred but they will take Yamaha's.
Nothing worse than returning to your mooring and finding someone needed your tender more than you.
We have had inflatables and outboards removed from davits at the main wharf in the middle of the day. Last day of longweekends are the worst!

That why you cant up grade your truck to much dam it I cant afford to any way
My two boys want to look at the boat today they will freak when they see gaping hole along the the side of the boat
I will offer them a life jacket each

Dinghy theft is almost justifiable cause for homicide.

Hi Ramona
Thanks for the suggestion
Down here we dont have a lot of drama with theft and a lot of people with boats on moorings will leave their tenders on the river bank
If i am only going away for a day i leave the tender on the mooring but any more than that i will normally tow it behind
Here at Port Huon (population is probably around 300) the homes are elevated from the water and most of them have a good view of the bay and people tend to keep a look out for what is happening on the water and a good few are members of the yacht club
I had a bloke doing some work on mine while i was at work one day and i got a call from a local here asking me where i was and telling me there was someone was climbing on my boat
10 minutes later i got a phone call from the bloke who was doing the work telling me he was on the boat and i told him that i already knew he was
He said that the bloke on the mooring beside me had come over and asked what he was doing on it as well
There are a few people who go away for days on end and they leave their tenders and outboards on the moorings and nothing ever seem to go missing
I keep my dinghy in a locked (from the land ) shed on the river bank below our house and i normally bring my oars and outboard back to the house so i am pretty much covered

Hi Cisco
It was on her when i bought her and i added the rubber strip on the gunwale

Mines an aluminium Barefoot with the buoyancy blowup tubes works well on coral beaches and pebble ones too. 3.25 m long
I have another option if we go away for a couple of days and dont want to tow the dinghy or leave it on the mooring
I can go out to the boat and tow the dinghy to the yacht club jetty which is only 5 minutes away, tie the boat up there, motor the dinghy back to the dinghy shed and walk back to the yacht club and go from there
The yacht club jetty is also good for loading and unloading gear and people if need be
We used to have this old floater that was a bit dodgy but now we have a flash new fixed one with composite mesh deck that is twice the size
Regards Don

Damn you have it tough down there Don. You actually have to walk 5 mins to and 5 mins from the dinghy shed.
Ohh that my life could be so tough.

If it all sounds tempting a 907 m2 block across the road from the water with this view down the river is around $120,000
