If anyone hasn't seen skip novaks videos, they're really worth a watch. The boats impressive with a floating keel and he shows how to heave to, anchor etc in extreme conditions down in the Southern ocean around Patagonia etc.

However his storm tactics relate more to modern fin keelers than old, heavy long keel boats.

His opinions of storm tactics are very strong and based on his bullet proof Pelagics. Everything about those boats are strong and built for ice and high latitude sailing. Heaving too may not work as well for you as it does for him.
The Pelagics don't carry drogues or parachute anchors as he doesn't believe in them.
Just my opinion.
Enjoy the videos

I have to agree Wayne. Well produced videos but really short on actual info. Fine if you have 6 young crew members and there was a lot of deck work on the reefing videos that should have been done from the safety of the cockpit.

Agreed
He Skippered an around the world fully crewed race boat then set up the Pelagics as such. His boat set up is glaringly obvious to experienced blue water sailors. He then employs a skipper and mate(sometimes 2) to sail into some really challenging places!
