Hi, I am in the process of buying an offshore capable sailing boat in New Zealand.
I came across a nice one advertised as a Sparkman and Stephens ALPA 11.5 from 1974 but I actually have a hard time finding the design online. I could find S&S ALPA 38 from about the same year, but it is a different boat, the most obvious difference being that the 38 has two cabins while the advertised boat has 1.
There's a picture below.
Does anyone know about this design?
Thanks

It does look like it is an S&S design. Email the photo to them in New York and they will probably reply. I have made enquiries about my boat and they were very helpful.

I have a very vague memory that the Alfa/Alpha was an S&S design 2602. Link to the design here

The design was well known in NZ because 1971 Sydney-Hobart winner Pathfinder was one, so it makes sense that they built some more although I can't recall any off the top of my head.

More info and pics of this interesting boat can be found at www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-marine/yachts/keeler/auction-1449038235.htm

It seems that Alpa was an Italian builder that had several S&S designs for their production boats including some not so pretty centre cockpit yachts of a similar size accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&hl=en-GB&passive=true&continue=https://www.blogger.com/blogin.g?blogspotURL%3Dhttp://sparkmanstephens.blogspot.com/2011/09/design-2172-alpa-36.html%26zx%3D1k9ay1bujxji3
