There were some superb photos on Facebook this morning from last years Hobart race. I have noticed a few photos lately of trysails not being secured to the mast track. Not sure if this was an accident or not but looking at the photos it seems to be effective.

That is ABSOLUTELY wrong! No way it's climbing off a lee-shore like that and a good way to snap a rig because of the uneven loading on the spar-tube.

Edit: At the start of all these long offshore races a vessel is required to motor past the committee vessel with the storm sails hoisted and rigged. You can be nearly certain that motoring past with a free flying trisail would result in a disqualification.

Hi Jethrow.
Should this sail have track slides all down the leach or just one at the peak to keep it from flogging around the mast?

It looks like there is sail slugs / slides along the luff of the sail.
