From what I recall Warwick was very happy with the results he had with the system he installed, which by the way was NOT a Jaycar one but one costing substantially more.

Hi, persone "Galena" played significant role to kill original thred (my personal opinion) but as new member he/she Galena did not contribute to our site any more than just two critical wievs of warwicki intensions, and no more. Warwik If you are reading it please reactivate your thread and please keep us informed, Manitulak.

Thanks hgo2, warwics tests were in our waters, UK test were done in North Atlantic conditions. My boat is on pole moring about one and halfe mile from marina entrance and young/deweloping growth is totaly diferent to what growes in up streem marina. In marina it is kind of "stick insect " in the creeck it is micro prown habitation. So, if he got any positive results , which I do belive will average to East Coast? I WILL try, twofifty is not much if there is no lift/dry dock aviable. Manitulak.

Here is the link to the Jaycar kit reviewed by PBO forum members. I'll let you make up your own conclusions. I would however suggest hanging around slipways and checking out vessels that you know are so equipped as they are hauled out. I would suggest you take this study for a few years before laying down any hard cash.

G'day
I build one of Jaycar kits after I got my H28. It’s hard to say if it works.
I got my boat June 2010 and last December I did Antifouling second time.
I live warm waters of Hervey Bay and have seen much worst boat bottoms what I had.
I did not have Barnacles what H28 had was like Slime and Weeds.
Other boats have Barnacles here at Marina but some never move.
Cheers

I installed Transducer in one of storage boxes under bunk right side of steps.
It's been running OK since May2011.

Warwickl here, yes was my post back a bit.
System still operating and now 16 months since last antifouling and I do not anticipate antifouling until month 24. This is twice the length of time prior to fitting the system.
Having said that this is the current condition of underwater hull with 16 months since the last slipping; slime which falls off with hand or light rub with a broom, a few shell fish that are either dead and fall off with a touch or alive and fall a week or so later, trim tabs and raw water inlets are isolated from the effect of the ultrasonic system and have required cleaning.
IN SUMMARY - I am happy and would still slip my boat every 2 years regardless, the system has more than paid for its self but I would not support the claims for an almost clean hull for more than 2 years between slipping in the environment my boat is moored.
DISCLAIMER: I am not supported by or have any business interest in this product. Should anyone with genuine intent wish to have a look at my boat PM me.

Hi Installed ultrasonic device about 12 months ago.I am pretty sure it does not work. Cleaned hulls thoroughly at xmas time and have run it constantly since then.Put boat up on beach this weekend gone to do some prop work and both hulls one more than the other were very badly encrusted wit barnacles etc. Probably worst Ive seen in 8 years of owning this boat. The machine cost over $1000 and I guess I have wasted my money yet again.(sob) Am looking into a product called Oceangard antifouling , its expensive and sounds too good to be true. Any thoughts on that appreciated.

Pretty much answered this yourself. I would suggest hanging about the slips and talking to other owners in your area and see what they are using and what works. The extra rain we have had this season has had a marked effect on fouling in some places too. Its hard to compare on season with previous. Also the quality of the antifouling paint is not always consistent either.

Hey bobg, It sounds like you brought one of those jc units. I guess that since you have 2 hulls its a cat and you would have required a unit with 4 transducers (front and back of each hull). Am I correct so far? Couple of questions.

Did you use silicone grease between the head of the transducer and the hull making sure there was no air gap?
What did you do with the excess cable on the transducers. Was it coiled up? Coiling can be a problem.
Did you have power on the unit 27/7 365 days?
Did you put fresh antifoul on the hulls when you first installed the unit?

I have one on my hull and last year I turned it off (save power) for most of the year as I was cruising and I noticed there was more barnacles in places I hadn't got them before. Normally I was only getting them on the anode bolts/straps.

I was advised that the best method was to directly epoxy bond the transducers to a well prepared flat solid fiberglass surface or on metal rudder shafts. This has worked for me.
I can clearly hear the transducers pinging when in the water under my boat, however I am not sure if this means a successful connection.
