Can anyone identify a suitable mast head replacement VHF antenna for this one below ? The female base fitting is corroded. I have cleaned it up as good as I can, but it is still not giving good transmission.
It has a narrow 1.5cm base and is about 1m long. All the decent ones at Whitworths have fatter bases that won't fit or the ones that have a compatible base look tiny.
They are exceptionally good antennae. What about finding a pensioner with a lathe and replacing the corroded bits.

Thanks Ramona, I was interested in whether it was top shelf or not. When it was working, it had fantastic transmission and I would love to get it back in order. The inside of the female fitting is so corroded, there is hardly any material for the male connector to get contact. I have thought about adding a shim, but afraid it will corrode away. It needs to be 100% as its a real pain to climb the mast. Do you know how it comes apart ?
Any pensioners in Melbourne with a lathe willing to take it on ?

Apart of corrosion problem, I would be more worried of internal connectors & coaxial wire corrosion .
Insufficient insulation / leakage / of the aerial connection would kill VHF transmission .
Opposite rusty aerial is not VHF killer.
Simple test required, disconnect aerial from transmitter, measure insulation , must by infinity,
wouldn't use, standart ohm meter but insulation tester to get trust worthy result.
