If I remember correctly they were the best quality on offer in Melbourne at the time . actually came in handy once when I fell over trying to change jibs in a messy sea .
Everytime I hear mention of or see an SS34 I have have great memories of the close racing I had with one called
Sinnerman out of Royal Vic. When I had the Bounty 35. On paper I had her measure but she always had me on a beat . I don't know why but she could point that one or two degrees higher. In one Westcoaster we were never more than 4 miles apart --till we hit storm bay and we lost our way so to speak. Great boats but I digress.
