That's fine HG, worth a try just to satisfy myself and I will still consider it when this sensor goes bung.

I might try to modifying the thermostat housing to suit the twin terminal sender unit Ill take it to work tomorrow see what I can do.. It appears the step down part of the sender unit bottoms out on the housing and I think there is enough room left in the housing to easy out the hole to 10 mm so the sensor can fit.
The sender does not protrude through the housing if it could be screwed down except for the cut out in the housing

The original Bukh temp sender has a coating on the sender probe.
my VDO does not

The twin VDO sender is around 8 mm and the original is 10 mm approximately on the prode
I think there is enough room on the side of the thermostat housing to easy the hole out to allow the sender to fit and give it clearance with out it protruding through the housing ( just)
Wost come to best result Ill fit a capillary temp and oil gage and they can stick there electrical senders back in there boxes

Would an extra copper washer or two give you enough clearance do you think??.

I wish Jabbwock Ive few issues to work through yet .
This week end
1 soak the cooling system in Vinegar for a few days
2 Remove the flywheel tomorrow and remove the water pump outlet to the engine block piping and make it clean and possible also see I can increase the pipe size to 13mm as I have ordered a DV24 water pump ( which has more flow) so Im hoping to assist it along to the exhaust Outlet .
3 Measure the throttle and gear shift cables as after I moved the gear shift forward and on the opposite side .
The morse cables don't like the bends I made them do .

I can now sit between the tiller and the throttle comfortably before it was about center of the that storage compartment on the opposite side with the cables running though the bunk on the starboard side.

So now the throttle /gear shift is inside the engine areaq not exposed in the out side storage locker.
I dont have a port side stern bunk I purposely did this so I can work on the engine in comfort and keep it tidy

So I am buying a couple of telflex morse extremes made to measure which after looking at them and seeing how flexible they are will make my gear shift like a hot knife in butter..
That should do till lunch time tomorrow and then its clean up day for the rest of the day
Sunday
do some more work to the stove /sink cabinet
Originally I was fitting the stove to the port side and fitting the sinks and fridge to the starboard side and had bought every thing for that purpose
I then realized I might have problems with a fridge and sink cabinet as far as water making its way into the fridge from the sinks so they were then moved
The result is fitting the stove and the sinks is very very tight . To be honest they wont fit . So I need to either buy a 250 wide sink ( rectangle)or cheat a little if I can to make the sinks fit. I have made the stove liner 550mm wide .Later on when Im gone and my sons own it they can if they want fit a force ten gas unit .
Younger generation like quick and easy. So in doing that it leave me with the sink lip hanging over the side of the cabinet by 8 mm.
Cheating would mean adding a wooden trim to include the sink lip which would look ok done right . So the sink side of the cabinet is on hold Ill just deal with the stove side and get it swinging Thats Sunday
This was where I was going to fit the stove but started to worry about water from the sink so the fridges were fitted there instead.
I amstill trying to woek out what bench top material to use I have some free white Laminex here a cabinet make gave me < lightest
I am also looking at Bunnings Kaboodle Bamboo < heavest
and also a cabinet maker close by makes Corian kitchens and I could buy some Corian ( poplar with American Yachties) < heavy but not as heavy as the Bamboo.
Laminex is not like it use to be its under 1 mm thick now I belive 0.8 mm used to be around 1.5 mm thick its not much better than paper . So I dont know how long it would last for .

Then If I run out of jobs there the cabinet front to make and finish
Ive penciled in September to raise a sail or two hopefully earlier .
She will be motoring soon through about 4 weeks away Id say down to a hard stand and fit my new sea cocks and a fresh coat of anti foul
