The boat came out for it's annual anti-foul yesterday and I was eager to see how it had faired over the last twelve months.
The yard that looks after my boat puts on two coats of Altex 5 as standard. Because Missus has been crook this last year I've
had to leave the boat unused longer than I would normally do, although I didn't leave it longer than 3 weeks.
I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the hull was, not perfect of course but better than ninety five per cent. Not so the prop.
Despite Propspeed the propeller was a mess with a clump of oyster sitting on the hub. The blades were a little better, probably
fifty percent fouled but I had endevoured to turn the prop as often as I could over the last year. The yard told me the prop needs
to be turned more even if it's done on the mooring but of course that won't happen if I can't get to the boat. However, I'm
happy with the performance of the Altex 5.

Mine came out of the water yesterday as well. It has been just under 2 years since she was done with International Longlife. She was being scrubbed generally once a month, but that stopped last Christmas. Apart from a relocate to Lake Macqaurie, hardly been used since then. Only a few clumps of weed, but lots of small shells, mainly around the water line. None on the prop tho which had been propspeeded.

What is your location? If it's Cronulla area then youve done well.

Presume they used rollers to apply No 5, if so you should have had three coats put as per the manufacturers instructions.

Means you would have got 18 to 24 months instead of only 12 months

I just did mine with Altex No 5 and rolled 3 coats and more on leading edges etc
I'll post results in 12 months

Anyone used Altex No. 5 Plus?
I am thinking of trying it.
I've contacted their technical team and got good advice.

Thanks Sam, good to get a report, I'm always on the lookout for this kind of thing. It would be really helpful if people post their location, number of coats (rolled or sprayed) and usage to get a better gauge of the different products as there are so many variables.

I found it a bit weird and a little scary, that after a discussion about antifouling was opened, an ad like this is appearing on other posts ....
hmmmmmm.

Same as Troubadour, plus full extra coat on the rudder. Just done this last weekend. Located in Lane Cove River.
