Hi all
Sheet to tiller steering was mentioned in another thread. Now I have a vague idea of what it means. the sheets are tied to the tiller to steer the boat to the wind?
I would appreciate a detailed explanation, one that a novice as I am can understand.

Type in "Sheet to tiller steering" in the search section of Youtube and it's all there.
I have never done it or even been on a boat when it was done I have wheel steering and an auto pilot. top hat guys seem to do it a bit Maybe one of them could help you sector Steve use to do a lot of it but he doesn't come on often anymore. Maybe send him a DM
I think he's in the sin bin, a bit to passionate for even heavy weather I believe.

There are basically three types of sheet to tiller steering.
1. boom end or a line tied to the main sheet and back to tiller.
2. foresail clew or a line tied to the foresail sheet and back to tiller.
3. rig an extra foresail (small jib or yankee) and bring a line from the clew back to the tiller.
I settled for the second method after a bit of experimentation.
I downloaded EVERY youtube and studied them before I started.
There are some really good explanations out there.
